:This was actually specifically in the bot request and later in its RFBA. I'm assuming that the rounding is very negligible when we get to the precisions that the bot is working with. :: I don't think earthquakes will occur as Alanbot shifts world coordinates about in the wrong direction, but rounding is the proper way to do this in terms of data presentation. (In fact, I believe the exact location of places constantly shift with continental drift, the tides, and magical spells.) The requesters, et. al, just got too excited about this over-precision issue and did not consider what truncating meant v. rounding. I do recommend stopping and making the adjustment. The USCG Light Lists specify the location of lights to 3 decimal places of seconds. A second is about 100 feet or 30 meters of latitude, so three decimal places is about an inch or 3cm. That's clearly within the capabilities of modern surveying, so it's probably a good number. It's more precision than most users of WP:EN will require, but why should we be changing the official position to one that is less precise? . .
