Short Desc on Redirect Pages

Hi! I'm {{Yo|IAmChaos}}. I noticed that on the page {{-r|Risk-free interest rate}}, you added a shortdescription. While you are allowed to add these to redirect pages, I wanted to remind you that they should be placed UNDER the first line of the redirect like such:

#REDIRECT Target

{{Short description|Your text here}}

Please see Wikipedia:Short description#Short descriptions on redirect pages if you have any questions.

Sorry, but i seem to be too ignorant to understand all this at present—but hopefully I’ll learn soon. Thanks for your attempt to educate. ( I’ve made several hundred very simple content edits but without learning much about Wiki rules). JdelaF (talk) 00:47, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

December 2024

I honestly can't tell what you meant to do with your recent edits of Dicing tape. You have been around for quite a while, made many edits, and generally look like you know what you're doing. However, at this article, you removed good content, added a lot of errors, damaged the formatting of an image, and said in the summary that you'd added a reference, which you didn't.

If you were a new user, I would have warned you for vandalism without a second thought. I'm not sure what happened here, but please be mindful with your changes, and please use Preview, at the very least, to make sure your edits have not damaged page readability. Thank you, Jessicapierce (talk) 23:17, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

:Thanks for your input. But I'm puzzled as to which specific edits were objectionable please address one or two that we can discuss. JdelaF (talk) 19:04, 4 April 2025 (UTC)

Sealant added to double seams

I have reverted the three different additions you made to three Wikipedia pages regarding the need of a sealant for double seams to be hermetic. I have reverted these additions. My experience shows that this is not true, and you did not provide a source. If you can find a source for this information, please provide it when adding it. Angryapathy (talk) 14:31, 24 March 2025 (UTC)

:Interesting! True, my only source was another Wiki article. BTW, are you aware of any food products which do not include sealants? I confess that I simply doubt that metals actually form hermetic bonds due to a temporary compression. I know that copper "o-rings" are used in ultra-high vacuum applications but this is only when lots of permanent external compression is supplied. JdelaF (talk) 00:45, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

::I'm pretty sure all canned food products are double seamed without any sealant. There's a reason why the double seam has not been replaced for decades; it's effective and only needs good engineering design. Angryapathy (talk) 13:36, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

:::Question.

:::What about the following:

:::In the article Canning:

:::“…A rubber compound is put inside the curl.”

:::and later:

:::“…All sanitary cans require a filling medium within the seam because otherwise the metal-to-metal contact will not maintain a hermetic seal. In most cases, a rubberized compound is placed inside the end curl radius, forming the critical seal between the end and the body.”

:::In the article Aluminum Can: “After filling, the can "end" is sealed onto the top of the can. This is supplemented by a sealing compound to ensure that the top is air tight.”'' JdelaF (talk) 07:53, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

::::BTW, from ChatGPT:

::::"Here are the source URLs that explain the use of sealing compounds in double seams during canning:

:::: 1. Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) - A guide to can defects and double seam components:

::::AFDO Guide to Can Defects

:::: 2. Levapack - A manufacturer explaining the can sealer and the role of sealing compounds:

::::Levapack - Can Sealer " JdelaF (talk) 08:06, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::Dear Angryapathy: I assume from your lack of reply that I may re-revert (with the above references added) and you will not revert? Thanks. JdelaF (talk) 17:56, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
