Disambiguation link notification for March 24
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Lois Orr, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Charles Orr ([//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dablinks.py/Lois_Orr check to confirm] | [//dispenser.info.tm/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dab_solver.py/Lois_Orr?client=notify fix with Dab solver]). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ{{*}} Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Welcome to Milhist!
Hello and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can [{{fullurl:Template:WPMILHIST Announcements|action=watch}} watchlist it] if you are interested, or you can add it directly to your user page by copying the following: {{tl|WPMILHIST Announcements}}.
- Important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you [{{SERVER}}{{localurl:Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history|action=watch}} watchlist it].
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, and article logistics.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a set of guidelines that cover article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts.
- If you would like to receive the project's monthly newsletter, The Bugle, please sign up here.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask any of the project coordinators or any other experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome, and we are looking forward to seeing you around! Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:38, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

Please see note on your DYK review. BTW if you are reviewing a nomination, please keep your approval tick and comments at the bottom of the thread. If you are promoting a hook to the prep set, then you edit at the top of the template. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 23:28, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
:An additional point: the same person is not supposed to approve and promote a nomination. Different people are supposed to do these steps on a particular nomination. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:55, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
:: Apologies, it wasn't quite clear with the instructions on the difference between passing a DYK nom and promoting one. I thought it was one and the same. Apparently not. --Meanderingbartender (talk) 02:30, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
::*Thomas D. Keizur DYK nomination is still open. Brief text that states what you did during review process is needed to clear it. Something like: "16px Good to go. Article is long enough and new enough; no sourcing, copyright, or content issues were found. Hook has good sources and meets length and format criterion. QPQ was done." This let’s DYK folks know that a complete review was accomplished. Since this is my nomination, I'd like to ensure it isn't forgotten. Thanks!--Orygun (talk) 20:42, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
:::Will do. Guess I should have used a non-mandatory template.--Meanderingbartender (talk) 20:48, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

::Hi, it's been two weeks since {{u|The Rambling Man}} responded on the nomination template about the image. If it's not properly licensed, it should be removed from the article before it appears on the main page. Yoninah (talk) 21:37, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
:::{{ping|Yoninah}} one person's opinion is not a valid enough reason to remove an image. If they want to take it up at commons where the image is currently not in dispute. Otherwise, I see no reason to remove the image from the page or the DYK nom. --Meanderingbartender (talk) 01:13, 7 May 2018 (UTC)
::::This is not one person's opinion; he is an administrator at WP:ERRORS who often pulls hooks from the main page for incorrect image licensing, even if the image is just included in the article and not featured on the main page. My experience with the editors over at Wikipedia:Files for discussion is that they're very strict. Please clear this up with them so we can proceed. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 10:04, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

Excuse my English, but what in the world is the problem now? You like the alt hook; we just need another reviewer. In case you haven't noticed, DYK has been reduced to a skeleton staff. We have 3 editors regularly promoting hooks to the main page, and a handful of editors regularly doing reviews. Most hooks wait up to a month before any action is taken on them. Invitation to participate in study
Hello,
I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews.
We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.

Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open
Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Cheers, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
