Draft : House Of Hasib
A user has declined my draft for submission. Their feedback is that I need many many more soucres and to shorten the family trees. I can do the latter however how many sources do I need to be exact ? Please guide me Fuzayl1 (talk) 23:36, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
:@Fuzayl1 Hello. It is not about the number of sources used overall, but that every statement you make in the draft needs to be cited. Readers need to know where the information is from so they can verify it themselves.
:At the moment the vast majority of the draft is unsourced - where is that information from? If it is from memory, you may have made the mistake of writing the draft backwards.
:If you are unable to cite the information, it needs to be removed. A short article with ten sources is much better than a very long one with thirty sources but lots of unsourced statements.
Good luck! -- NotCharizard 🗨 01:41, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi there,
You declined it, citing that it is a non-notable biography. Take a closer look, the draft is about a music album. Make sure to provide proper reasons while declining drafts. Regards. Hitro talk 09:12, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
:@HitroMilanese Thank you for letting me know, I will try and be more careful in future! I did read the draft, but mistyped the topic in my reason. While I do appreciate you letting me know, I felt this message was a bit condescending - please remember to engage collaboratively and assume good faith! Thank you. -- NotCharizard 🗨 09:30, 19 November 2024 (UTC)

Source for adding Alisa Kwitney to list of Vertigo editors.
I listed links to all the books which Alisa Kwitney edited or wrote. One can look up the titles and see that she is listed as an editor on the books linked. She is also credited as a writer but not as an editor. Can you please unarchive the changes, or tell me what sources you require? Vertigal (talk) 14:33, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
:@Vertigal Hello, thank you for replying on my talk page. It is very important to cite the statements you make in an article, rather than making readers try to research the information to verify it themselves or using external links.
:See referencing for beginners for help, it is a great guide. -- NotCharizard 🗨 14:51, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
::NotCharizard, are you a human being, and if so, can you help me? I myself am Alisa Kwitney. I inserted links to the books, which list me as the editor. What else do I need to do, and how do I get to the piece so it can be included again? Vertigal (talk) 14:55, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
:::Yes, I am a human? At least, I am fairly certain I am.
:::If you are Kwitney, that is very serious - please do not edit the article directly again, as you have a conflict of interest and must instead use the edit request feature. Wikipedia must not be used for self promotion.
:::I am going to bed now, but I will be able to respond to you again next time I am online. In the meantime, I suggest asking any questions at The Teahouse, a help forum specifically for new editors - they are friendly and very knowledgeable about Wikipedia. -- NotCharizard 🗨 15:02, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
Removing euphemism at [[Multi-Edit]]
You recently changed "passed away" to "died" at a number of articles. That's often a good thing when you're changing something written in wikivoice; it's a bad thing if you change the words of someone being quoted. One of your [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Multi-Edit&diff=prev&oldid=1286337722 changes] was at Multi-Edit, where you changed "passed away" to "died" within a quotation. Did you really mean to do that? Vadder (talk) 14:52, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
:Ah, thank you so much for catching that! I’d been being careful to avoid changing any quotations, I think I must have not realised because it was such a long quote it seemed like normal text. I apologise. -- NotCharizard 🗨 14:57, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

Support
I was in the process of responding on the ANI when it was closed. I was writing to thank you for bringing attention to the problem. The language Cullen 328 used with me in the Teahouse was far from civil. (How can someone write, "don't you dare tell me..." and be considered civil??) Afterwards, I looked through the Talk messages and saw quite a few other people who felt he was too harsh and unpleasant. There are too many people who kowtow to long-time editors such that they become untouchable, and know it.
I came across interviews that have been done with long-time editors and was surprised by how many commented on how mean senior editors are to new editors. They even admit that they were on the receiving end when they were new, and wish they'd been kinder as seniors themselves. I also found some old data on negative feedback for new editors (Wikipedia used to track this sort of thing) and it skyrocketed a few years after the project got started. From what I've seen, the trajectory has only continued. Basically, new editors get hazed and if you're submissive and contrite, they forgive you, otherwise you're castigated and ostracized. It's like some old, boy's school club. Ghost writer's cat (talk) 06:45, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
:@Ghost writer's cat Would you like to see the flipside of the coin? Excellent name btw. Polygnotus (talk) 14:41, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
:@Ghost writer's cat Thank you a lot for taking the time to write this. I have noticed it as well with people who have been around for a long time, and it's very difficult to know how to conunter it. -- NotCharizard 🗨 08:21, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
::@Notcharizard I think the best thing is to respond with the best manners and keep all your emotions in check, but be honest. That way, no one can blame you for your behavior while the senior will look even worse. But you might still get criticized anyway. I certainly did, and I don't think I said anything out of line. Sometimes there's just no winning. Ghost writer's cat (talk) 01:22, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

Articles for Creation backlog drive
Hello Notcharizard:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in June!

You may find :Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over {{Rounddown|{{formatnum:3,205|R}}|-2}} pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
