Hi. The links to [http://www.timelines.tv/ http://www.timelines.tv/] that you added, do not appear to currently work, so have all been removed. In addition please read the Wikipedia guidelines concerning Wikipedia:External links and Wikipedia:Spam before re-adding any links.

If you'd like to learn more about contributing to Wikipedia, please read through the various Wikipedia:Introduction pages. Thanks. -- Quiddity (talk) 17:49, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

: The link on the Titus Salt page works fine for me (I use Firefox, do you?). It appears to be a useful video, made for BBC and available free, not advertising a commercial enterprise, so I see no reason to delete it and have reinstated it. PamD (talk) 18:08, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

::Hi. Yeah, the videos links seem to work again now. I did try a number of times, I'm not sure whether my connection or the site itself was experiencing problems. Anyway, I shall revert all my removals. I'll add a standard welcome-template below this, it has a handful of interesting or useful links. Thanks, and sorry about the confusion. :) -- Quiddity (talk) 19:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

:::The links appear to be serial spam additions to promote his/her website. I have removed them all articles. - Dudesleeper / Talk 09:35, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

::::That's not assuming good faith. The links appear to be informative, and there is no indication that this account is the owner of the website timelines.tv. I strongly suggest you reinstate the links, if that was the only reason for their removal. -- Quiddity (talk) 18:11, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Peacockpie: Are you the owner/creator of www.Timelines.tv? If so, please read WP:Conflict of interest before adding any more external links. Thanks :) -- Quiddity (talk) 18:11, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

:Hi - in answer to your question - no, I don't own Timelines.tv, but the people who do are friends of mine and I admire what they're doing. It's a non-commercial site, so no one stands to gain anything. I thought people interested in finding out about Titus Salt on Wikipedia might like seeing the item on Titus Salt on Timelines.tv - and ditto for the other modules. It's all about knowledge and discovery and sharing. British schoolkids and teachers, especially, would value the links. So - does that make my additions "serial spam additions to promote [a] website"? - If so, I won't add any more links, and I'm genuinely sorry. But there really wasn't any bad faith involved. Peacockpie.

:PS - I've just looked through the COI page you recommend, and feel all the more sure that what I did wasn't in breach. It's all about motivation, isn't it? Are we genuinely seeking to add to the usefulness of Wikipedia, or not? Personally, I genuinely think a page on Titus Salt with a link to Timelines is a 'better' page than one without. And since I have nothing personally to gain from adding the link, my motivations must be sound, no? Anyway, as I said, it's entirely your call and I'll abide by your decision.

::Those links are fine. Feel free to add them. Don't mind our overzealous contributors ;) There are thousands of volunteers here, all with slightly different perspectives on how Wikipedia "ought" to be (see meta:Conflicting Wikipedia philosophies). I'll leave Dudesleeper a note on his talkpage, reminding him to not bite the newcomers.

::Just as an addendum, it would be slightly preferable if you could add to the text of the article, and use the link as a cited-reference (the links would then be less likely to be deleted again in future "cleanups", too). Add a sentence, then after the fullstop place the link within ref tags: (link here). Let me know if I can be of any more help. -- Quiddity (talk) 19:24, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
