Image:Information.svg Hello, I'm GorillaWarfare. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, :Philip Low (chemist), but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 17:35, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hi. I'm the Senior Administrative Assistant for Dr. Low and he asked me to create a Wikipedia page for him. I noticed there was one already so I changed the information to what Dr. Low had written for this page. Hope that was alright. I don't really know what I'm doing so I thought it would take. Let me know if you need something else. Thank you. Philip S Low (talk) 17:45, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
:I see the conflict of interest below and wasn't aware of this information. If you need to sit everything back I understand. I'll just let Dr. Low know about this and show him the page. Thanks. Philip S Low (talk) 17:47, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
::Does Dr Low have access to this account, or just you? Please answer this question before you make any further edits.
::If you are the only one who can access this account then you need to rename this account ASAP so that it represents only you and not anyone else. See Wikipedia:Changing username for more information. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:06, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
:::I am his Senior Admin Assistant and was tasked to build a Wikipedia page for him, not really understanding what I was doing. I've been unable to figure out how to change the user name from his to mine. I'll just go ahead and delete this profile and start from scratch in my own name. Thank you. ::::You didn't actually answer my question. Can Dr. Low access this account, or just you?
::::You could try WP:CHU/Simple. Changing your username is preferable because doing so causes your prior contributions to be retained. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:33, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
File:Information.svg Hello, Philip S Low. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page :Philip Low (chemist), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{tl|edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see {{Section link|Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI}});
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see {{Section link|Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming}});
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.{{#ifexpr: ({{#time: U | now}} - 1747330576) < 13150000 | {{PAGENAME}} | }} GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 17:36, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
