Re your removal of the rock, the article doesn't specifically mention it, but there is a photo showing it ([http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2086527/Costa-Concordia-accident-Pictures-cruise-ship-sinking-coast-Italy-Titanic-like-scene.html 6th image down]).
