About Artemis Fowl (series)
If you are talking about the information I added about the audiobooks and their narrators, I received it from listening to them. If you are referring to the plot info on Artemis Fowl: The Last Guardian, the upcoming eighth and final novel in the series, I read a video update on the Artemis Fowl facebook page here. User talk:Thatmaned
I've declined your speedy request as it's a user talk page. Unattached talk pages in other spaces usually get deleted, but not in user space. Peridon (talk) 17:16, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
:Thanks for letting me know, Peridon. Should this page be nominated at Miscellany for deletion instead? Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 02:27, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
::No, we don't usually delete user talk pages. There were possible objections to the existence of the user page, but this talk page is harmless. We do delete the talk pages if used for attack, spam, copyvio, or if containing personal details of minors, when there's nothing else there to keep. If there is, we use revdel to hide the info (only admins can see revdeled stuff) and in some cases we get oversight (which removes it from the view of admins - belt and braces principle). Another case is where a very polite request is made by a blocked user with a company name to have the page taken off view. This is a bit WP:IAR, and isn't granted if they're being snotty. Any user talk pages (talk pages of subpages, that is) can be requested by the user for deletion under U1. Non-user talk pages that aren't attached (with the exception of AfC, where the talk page IS the main page in most cases) can be speedied G8. If an unattached talk page looks like a valid article, it can be moved to AfC, but do notify the creator (which isn't always easy if it's an IP...). I've not seen one yet worth moving. There must be some. Mind you, a heck of a lot of stuff at AfC is junk anyway. Peridon (talk) 09:57, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
Peridon, thanks for defending my talk page. Though, when I made it, I was being silly. But, I have made some contributions to a few articels such as "South Berkeley", "Pimp", "Empire of Mali", and "Arrow". I cant figure out how to contribute now, though. If you could tell me how I can have access to editing/contributing to articles, that'd be awesome. I've accumulated a lot of little facts and info tidbits since my last entry. Thanks. Speedy deletion declined: :Germany–Italy football rivalry
Hello Rotideypoc41352. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of :Germany–Italy football rivalry, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: This has been around long enough and has enough claim to importance that A7 is inappropriate. Take it to AFD. Thank you. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:46, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
great expectations
Hello - yes, I remember I was struck reading the article by the sentence that said Pip grew up in a land of dangerous 'swamps' and thought , blimey that's a bit strong , - its only Kent - but seeing it is translated from the French I see how it came about - 'marshes' would be better for Kent I think , - that French article is enormous and I looked at the main contributors user page - turns out he was french master at Eton college a while back , - its probably excellent but taking it over totally for the English page is a bit odd in some ways - like coming across that table of connections between the characters, but it is in French - I will have a read of the entire article and say what I think could be improved -- not that I have any credentials, except I did read the novel last year so its pretty fresh in my mind at least! Using the French article as a guide is probably a good idea but maybe some sections of it are better than others-and maybe it is a bit too long Sayerslle (talk) 18:31, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Co-op mentorship
Hello Rotideypoc41352, the bot that matches learners to mentors at WP:Co-op has matched you to Jim Carter, but unfortunately Jim Carter currently has some off-wiki issues that prevent him from spending the necessary time on Wikipedia. Thus I'll be happy to help you instead. You said you wanted to learn how to contribute content. The one-sentence summary would be, "find something that's missing, be it a missing article or an aspect within an existing article, find reliable sources that cover that topic, and summarize in your own words what those sources report." Obviously the devil is in the details; particularly the "find sources" part often is quite a challenge. I saw you have already begun collecting sources on your sandbox; do you have a specific topic in mind you want to write about? Are there particular aspects of content creation you would like to know more about? Huon (talk) 12:32, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
:Hello, Huon. I was thinking about expanding Gail Scott (journalist) so that it could be nominated at DYK. While the DYK deadline has passed, I figure that I might as well add to the article using the sources in my sandbox. However, I'm not too sure how to go about doing this; the articles are mostly about her opinions on events in Canadian broadcasting at the time and not biographical details on her life. Should they be integrated into Scott's article as another section about her views on events or something? Thanks. Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 20:04, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
::WP:DYK has an "expanded fivefold" provision that would allow not-quite-new articles to be nominated, but it may be difficult to write quite as much. Regarding the content, I'm rather skeptical about a "views" section or something of that kind. At a very quick glance at your sources, this one says she was a professor at Ryerson, an aspect of her biography the article currently doesn't mention. Another source I found rather interesting discussed her stance on some issue before the CRTC - not just an opinion she expressed in an interview, but her official stance as a commissioner performing her duties. Something like that could well be used to expand the article's very short coverage of her role as commissioner. If it's just her views on the broadcasting industry in general, I doubt listing them would improve our readers' understanding of her. Huon (talk) 23:04, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
Nellie Tayloe Ross
Hi. Just to let you know that I have reverted your recent edit to the above article. Given that the article in question is likely to be read many times today, it seems inappropriate to leave it in un-edited form. I suggest you copy the paragraphs you need into a sandbox page, edit them there. Then, once they're ready, they can be copied into the Nellie Tayloe Ross article seamlessly. Thanks. RomanSpa (talk) 19:45, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
:Thank you for leaving me a note, RomanSpa! I copy and edit in separate edits to make attribution easier (as required by CC-BY-SA). It would have been nice to help edit instead of reverting (after all, I don't own the article by any means!), but I totally understand if you have other commitments. Elkhart Central High School
You might take your own advice above. I reverted your removal of the athletic section at the above article. Indiana high school athletics are very easy to source. The state athletic authority can be found at IHSAA.org. Under the school tab is a listing of state championships by school. Sports offered are probably uncontroversial enough to not require a reference (except of course when the kiddies insist on adding competitive basket weaving, or alpine skiing to a school in Florida), but usually that info can be found on the school's website, or if you want an independent source, for Indiana, there is a pdf at IHSAA.org titled school directory with that info. I'm two time zones away and about to fall asleep, so if I don't get to it, you now know how.John from Idegon (talk) 02:37, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
:Many thanks. It seems that you'd do a better job than I would. I may come back and prosify it. Remove the "underwater basket weaving" entries. Or perhaps quiz bowl. Where'd you find a source for that anyway? (Last three sentences meant in jest. I may find a source for quiz bowl. Not so much for underwater basket weaving. Not a sourcing wizard, sadly.) Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 02:46, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
::If you do a lot of Indiana high school articles, you might find this useful. I made it for my alma mater, but with just a few tweeks, it will work for any Indiana hs. John from Idegon (talk) 03:21, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Nemalion
Thanks for your help. I am still not sure how best to deal with this file. I wrote the details based on the information on Nemalion helminthoides. I understand that "Further studies are required of the relationship between Nemalion helminthoides and multifidum."
I wrote up what the details I had from the references I had referring only to N. helminthoides not any other species or the genus in general. Perhaps this file should be changed to H. helminthoides and a separate file on Nemalion created giving (among other things) the list of species in the genus which I see was added later. If you agree I would be grateful if you would do it - far too complicated for me. CSD G13 nominations
You have nominated user:Sheep Vava for speedy deletion as a G13 abandoned draft. Please do not do this; a user page can not be regarded as a draft, ever; nor can a userpage ever be assumed to be abandoned. Please review the parameters listed in WP:CSD. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:49, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
:Anthony Bradbury I'm always interested in getting feedback about how I can do better. However, without a better understanding of what I should focus on when reading WP:CSD, I'm not sure how re-reviewing the page will help, as I will probably continue to miss the same things when I first read the page. What should I do when I encounter an inactive user page being used as a draft, or an abandoned draft (that will probably not pass AfC review) in an inactive user's sandbox? If you have advice in that vein, talking about specifically what you'd like me to do differently (or specific points I missed on WP:CSD or other policy pages) would be very helpful to me. Thank you for your work on Wikipedia. Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 17:23, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
::It can be a problem. CSD G2, CSD G6 or CSD U2 will take care of most of them. It is, of course, fair to say that an inactive user with a five-year-old userpage is not doing anyone any harm, so deletion is in any case not mandatory here. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 23:40, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
Wikipedia Day LA has been postponed
Hi and Happy New Year!
I'm working on organizing Wikipedia Day LA. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for RSVP'ing! It was you, me, and my friend Salome (who is not a Wikipedian). Not surprisingly, we're going to postpone the celebration until mid-February. Date TBA (but probably mid-month).
Just wanted to let you know in case you don't see the message on the meetup page. However, since I'm here...and possibly have your attention...if you're at all interested in getting involved -- either on the day of the event, or in advance of it -- please let me know. (Helping to plan ; would be great if you're up for it; we need to come up with panel ideas, etc.) Hope to see you in February. Thanks, Julie JSFarman (talk) 20:30, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Did you intend to take over, or were you just helping Vanguard 10? Vanguard has not continued the process despite a query sent to its Talk, and in a DYK nomination of another article, wrote that had completed the DYK process for I Saw... David notMD (talk) 03:35, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
:Hello, David notMD! I haven't communicated to Vanguard regarding this matter. I was just helping. If Vanguard looks responsive, I'd ask him to put his seal of approval on the nom page, since it seems we've adequately addressed the issues brought up. Thanks and good luck! ::This morning Vanguard signed off on the DYK. Thanks four your contribution. David notMD (talk) 12:14, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

Wembley Arena
Hello there! I do think that closing the move was decided prematurely and I decided to directly reopen discussion. I notice you didn't provide a supporting or disagreeing stance on the move request? --MetrolandNW (talk) 16:31, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

Submitting an article for publication
Thanks for your help, TechNYC article awaiting review now. One remaining problem. When I click on the talk page, I see the talk page for my previously submitted article. Pretty sure I moved both over to draft. I don't know how to fix this, can you help? Tlvernon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tlvernon (talk • contribs) 11:10, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
:I was coming here to leave you a message about how great it was to meet you yesterday and say thanks for coming out to the Wiknic. Then I came across this message re: TechNYC. How totally random is it that I reviewed (and published) the TechNYC article?!? Very spooky. ANYWAY! SO great to meet you, hope our paths cross again soon! Julie JSFarman (talk) 20:14, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
::Spooky indeed! Just in time for this month. Thanks for coming out, too, and it was great meeting you! Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 03:30, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Pseudoscience stubs
You should be a bit more careful when creating new stubs (and ideally run them past Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals) - the pseudoscience one was deleted by consensus at Wikipedia:Stub_types_for_deletion/Log/2007/June/24. Also if you do create a new stub, you need to create a corresponding category - Pseudoscience stubs in this case - to avoid a red-linked category per WP:REDNOT. Le Deluge (talk) 16:31, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
:Le Deluge thanks for letting me know, and I'm sorry for causing inconvenience. Should I request the template be deleted? Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 17:31, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
::No worries, it happens. Probably best to delete it unless there's lots more out there - I've not been involved with stubs for a while, the old standard used to be that 30 in a category was a good minimum number.Le Deluge (talk) 17:35, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of :Mama Lu's Dumpling House
A tag has been placed on :Mama Lu's Dumpling House, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the .
