João Sousa career statistics

Olá, I have a question: what do the colors in the "Head-to-head against top 20 players" mean? Particularly the beige in the last column? There's no key for them and I'm not sure whether they are really necessary. Cumps. Parutakupiu (talk) 19:34, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

:Oh, ok, I got it: white for wins, beige for losses. Still, unexplained and seems purely decorative. Parutakupiu (talk) 19:36, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Tennis charts

Please be careful with the non-guideline tennis charts. You are creating a lot of work for us to correct here at Tennis project. The proper consensus charts can be found at the Tennis Project Guideline page. We do not use flagathlete, we do not color the court type, etc... Thanks. Fyunck(click) (talk) 20:44, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

:Hello, {{ping|User:Fyunck(click)}} I follow the guidelines in most of my edits here, but for some work I get inspiration from Youzhny's career statistics. It is a featured list, which goes in accordance with higher level of standards than what is presented at the the Tennis Project Guideline page. I don't mean to say anything ill regarding any consensus found at WikiProject Tennis, but whenever there is a chance to improve, you have to seize it.

:For instance, Flagathlete is considerably more helpful than flagicon for WP:ACCESS. You may not use it, but that does not mean my adoption is incorrect. That is why what you presented me are guidelines, not hard rules. Regarding court type coloring, it is just something I adopted from Youzhny's page. However, I can remove it and not include it in new articles. I agree that its presence (or lack of it) is just a matter of aesthetics.

:Let me know your thoughts about this. Regards, SOAD KoRn (talk) 10:45, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

:PS: I have been away for awhile due to professional reasons, but I hope to catch up with the time lost as soon as possible. SOAD KoRn (talk) 10:48, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

::At tennis project we determined it is not more useful to have the flagathlete and it detracts visually. We have had other featured list articles that do not use it such as Milos Raonic, so just because it passed featured list does not make it a better. Many have no clue as to what country codes mean since some countries are very obscure. Even ESP is unknown to many English speakers. It make the column-widths longer, where with players like Roger Federer, every inch matters on a computer screen. And where you could scroll over the flag and get the country name, in flagathlete you have to scroll over the country code. I have no idea how it made feature list with a broken-wrapped doubles chart, non-standard court colors, and so many redlinked players who have no business be linked at all. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:04, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

:::{{ping|User:Fyunck(click)}} Well, it will not be me who is going to work differently around here. I respect your work and everything WikiProject Tennis has done to promote the sport at Wikipedia, and I understand the point that you are stressing. I will change every Portuguese tennis related articles that I've been working on. You don't need to worry about correcting them. Regards, SOAD KoRn (talk) 11:34, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

::::And it's not like we don't try to take new things into account. A new chart is in the works since some like to go against the grain and add a non-consensus number column. There are always kinks but it looks something like this:

Tennis section ready to be replaced

I waited a couple months and since the new tennis guideline section is ready to go live I thought I would ask a few of you if you see any glaring spelling or clarity mistakes. New Section, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Tennis/Article_guidelines#.234:Career Old Section] There was also talk about how to handle Future and Challenger Tiers but that can always be brought in as an easy addendum since it's not replacing anything we already have. The only thing I have a query about is how to handle W–L if someone creates a Challenger or Futures chart (or dual charts as often happens). Charts I've seen usually have no numbering or a running total of events rather than wins and losses. There should be no problem incorporating the same W–L for those charts. But what about charts that include both Futures and Challengers? Do we W–L them all together like they were the same event? Or do we do separate W–L's for them even though they are in the same chart? Again this can be brought up afterwards but it is a concern. I mainly wanted to make sure everything was crystal clear as to meaning in the replacement section. Thanks. While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
