AIDS
Sam, I appreciate your interest. You came in at the end of a brutal edit war. A group of scientists had contributed to the HIV/AIDS articles and their contribtions were brutally revert by some engineers! This resulted in many people merging the versions. I was just tidying up some nonsense like "Current science generally holds that" which actually referred to a UNAIDS report! and "in illicit drug injection; accidental needle sticks" which was a POV spin on medical transmision of HIV. Many of these changes just restored the text to the cited source.
We have endless problems with these articles: reference stripping is rife, which removes the links to the sources, source are changed, and text is given a POV spin not in the source!
One group of reverts remove all refernces to CDC the other object to WHO! The we have the group advocating circumcison to prevent AIDS and others claiming it is a disease restricted to gay men. Sci guy 15:28, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
Blocking
I forget what the IPs were, but two that I blocked were only 24 hours since the user obviously had a dynamic IP. The other one I blocked for longer because he also vandalized my user page (and vandalized other articles in the past). The one registered user (User:Pigger) is a member of the GNAA (Gay Nigger Association of America, not "Global Network of Arab Activists") and has been vandalizing articles and making personal attacks for quite a while. I have no doubt that he'll simply register another username. He also sent me a rather threatening email saying what he'd do if anyone unblocked him. So, I would recommend keeping the block. — BRIAN0918 • 2005-08-14 15:58
:I had just assumed you were an admin and would unblock the users if you felt like it. I deleted the emails (I got a few of them from the various blocked users) after reading them because they weren't much more coherent than your average junkmail spam. Pigger's history of vandalism, such as [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Holocaust&diff=prev&oldid=18745844] is preventing me from unblocking him (has he ever made one quality edit? not that it would change my mind). — BRIAN0918 • 2005-08-16 17:10
Spelling of word knowledgable
Hi. Why do you change knowledgable to knowledgeable? "knowledgable" gets 866,000 hits on google.com. I think it can be spelled both ways? Best regards, --Fred-Chess 16:29, August 15, 2005 (UTC)
:I came across this purely by chance, but I thought it was interesting to note that a search at [http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=knowledgable&db=* Dictionary.com] shows that "knowlegable" is not a correct spelling. – Mipadi 23:18, August 16, 2005 (UTC)

Sam, are you using a bot to make changes? If not I know it's annoying to be asked.... If so you need to get it cleared on Wikipedia talk:Bots Rgds, Rich Farmbrough 23:36, 16 August 2005 (UTC)
:Whether it's a bot or not, you might want to be more selective... your edit summary for [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Arrival_%28The_Prisoner%29&diff=21204013&oldid=21076712 this edit] said "grammar (it's / its)" -- implying that you fixed a case where "it's" was used when "its" should have been, or vice versa. In fact, however, it was a case where "it's" was used perfectly correctly, as a contraction of "it is". -- Antaeus Feldspar 23:57, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

available tea
Thanks for correcting the very very very bad mistakes in the very very very many pages on Tea. I guess there was one mistake, available, and I guess that was because it came from the same template. Anyway, just thanks. I guess it shows that there are people who re-read pages and are availible to correct mistakes. I don't think the template is in use any more.--Iateasquirrel 20:46, 17 August 2005 (UTC)
Nomination for adminship
Congratulations!
You now have lots of shiny new buttons to press! As you are an admin on another wiki you don't need me to tell you this but I'm going to anyway. Image deletion cannot be undone by another admin so don't delete unless you are sure. Go very slowly, and check the policies so you know what you are allowed to do as opposed to what you are able to do. And congrats! Theresa Knott (a tenth stroke) 11:05, 1 September 2005 (UTC)

- Whenever I see someone making edits on an article originated by me, I tend to check the person out, even if its for minor spelling mistakes or things like that. I began to trust your edits to the point that I no longer bother to check what you've done. I have witnessed your dedication and I believe that you will be one of the great admins here. You have earned your promotion. Tony the Marine 21:12, September 3, 2005 (UTC)

Bureaucratship
Admin
Congrats on yr adminship and thanks for voting for me in RFB. I had seen yr edits on the India page and elsewhere, so I easily recalled your name when I saw it on RFA. As has been said in my RFB, many haven't seen me around. :) I prefer to stay in FAC, so you'll get a change of catching me there or on the India page. =Nichalp «Talk»= 10:10, September 4, 2005 (UTC)

About my RfA
Hi Fvw, just a quick note to tell you that, though you opposed my adminship nomination, I appreciate the fact that you made public your concerns about me. I have been made an admin nonetheless, and I will of course act my best to prove your fears wrong. Best regards, Sam Hocevar 07:46, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
:I'm sure this is one of those cases where the community knows best, congratulations on your adminship and if you need a hand with anything on the technical side of adminship feel free to ask. --fvw* 22:20, September 4, 2005 (UTC)
Rfa
Well I appreciate that you will try to aleviate any concerns the Wikipedia community may have, I don't think that the GNAA had tainted you in any way, it's just that your relationship with them made me a bit uneasy. Gratz on the adminship, Derktar 22:20, September 5, 2005 (UTC).

Popups tool
Congratulations on being made an admin! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Wikipedia:Tools#Navigation_popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is paste the following into User:{{PAGENAME}}/monobook.js:
// User:Lupin/popups.js - please include this line
document.write('');
popupAdminLinks=true;
Give it a try and let me know if you find any glitches or have suggestions for improvements! Lupin 01:44, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
About a comment on [[Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive43#Entry on Talk:Bogdanov Affair moved here from WP:AN|WP:ANI]]
:« YBM carefully forgot to mention his own personal attacks, such as this one, or edits comments containing "reverting psychotic garbage" or "→garbage - special subsection for Sophie, noone care, noone read the psycho", or his complete removal of all of Sophie’s contributions under the quite ironic comment of "removing personal attacks in compliance with Wikipedia policy" (note that when Sophie did the same he reverted, calling it vandalism). Though it does not excuse anything of her behaviour, I am not surprised Sophie lost her temper, being pushed like that. Maybe YBM (who is well known for his Usenet flamebaits) deserves a friendly warning, too. Sam Hocevar 20:47, 5 September 2005 (UTC) »
You seems to forgot what was the content of the initial editing I was reacting to
- completely unrelated to the subject
- defaming and insulting me
- making the talk page a mess
- psychotic refer to a diagnosis anyone reading this texts could do
Let's me recall you what is on Wikipedia:No personal attacks (official policy) "If you are personally attacked, you may remove the attacks".
I recall you what I said before : I arrived on this article only to make sure everyone notice that the Bodanov were editing anonymously their own page. I did not intend to edit or discuss the article. As a matter of fact, I've then work out with EE Guy and Catherine and we arrived to a not so bad article. That's all. Sophie (aka 213.237.21.6, now XAL didn't wrote a word, neither here nor elsewhere, on the issue but only introduced meaningless garbage and personal attacks in the process.
I'm not about to let you write personal attacks on me there, even if you are an admin (pour qui tu te prends ?)--YBM 15:32, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
