What are Wikipedia’s rules about when to change a subject’s image? I have read the guidelines, but I‘m still unsure. Is there a limit to how new an image has to be; if so, what is it? (This question is related to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, as it is a general question.] SapphireElixir (talk) 17:18, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
:Hello @SapphireElixir!
:There is no clear policy concerning when to change an image but, they must be relevant which is dependent on the subject (per WP:IMAGEPOL). Along with that, they must properly represent the subject in a respectful and appropriate manner, especially if the subject is alive or recently deceased (per WP:BLP).
:What matters most is whether the image represents the subject well. Just saying “the image is old” isn’t enough, older photos can still be fine and get the job done.
:And above all: consensus matters. If you’re replacing an image, be clear on why it’s better, not just "newer".
:If you have any other questions or concerns, I'm happy to help! twisted. (user | talk | contribs) 17:37, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

If an article is to be translated into another language, do the sources for the article's information also have to be changed to sources in said language?
For example, if there was an article about a person, say, a talkshow moderator, that was to be translated from English into German. All information from this article is from English sources, as the talkshow moderator is from America. Now that the information is going to be translated, should German sources be found? Or is it OK to just translate the English articles and keep the English sources? SapphireElixir (talk) 10:59, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
:Each Wikipedia project has different rules and policies, in your example, you would need to check with German Wikipedia as to what they would like. Here on English, we allow any language to be source, as long as someone who speaks that language can verify it - RichT|C|E-Mail 12:28, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
