Adamstown
Hi. While, perhaps, you saw this [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Adamstown,_Dublin&diff=prev&oldid=1279433745 revert of mine] and considered that it was just a mindless/reasonless/random revert, to confirm: it wasn't. As discussed at several Project talk pages and article talk pages and user pages (incl my own), this was not an isolated/random/thoughtless revert. While I am 100% confident that your own edit is based entirely on good faith, I would highlight that, in restoring the socking/warring IP anon's change, you seem to be (inadvertently I'm sure):
- introducing WP:OLINK issues in the lead. (Effectively stating that "Adamstown is a suburb of Dublin approximately 16 km from Dublin city". Ignoring all else, why would we need to mention and link Dublin twice in quick succession?)
- effectively WP:WARing. (I opened a thread on the associated talk page. Etiquette would typically expect engagement with (or at the very least acknowledgement of) that discussion. Rather than just straight reversion of GF/ref-supported edits.)
- not entirely comparing like with like. In your edit summary, for example, you mention Lucan as a similar suburb. But the Lucan article (reflecting the sources) uses "suburban village". Not just "suburb". Same goes for Dún Laoghaire - which uses "suburban coastal town". Not just "suburb". (Whereas you've restored the anon's "suburb". Full stop. No qualification. No reflection of sources. And no distinction from other types of inner/connected suburbs. Like Inchicore or Sandymount or whatever).
(As noted on the Adamstown talk page, more than happy to have the discussion about where/whether/how we reflect the suburban/commuter nature of Adamstown. But simply using "suburb" (alongside the anon's other clunky/OLINKed text) doesn't seem like an improvement. Even [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Adamstown%2C_Dublin&diff=1275364970&oldid=1275258418 compared] to the "planned suburban development" text that we had for years - before the anon started this inconsistent crusade....)
Look forward to hearing from you on the Talk page. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 00:22, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
:This is just silly. Both Lucan and Adamstown are suburbs of Dublin. Period. I've no idea who the editor you are concerned about is - sock puppet, whatever. Qualify "suburb" if you wish - but don't deny reality! Sarah777 (talk) 20:39, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
::I'm not saying they're not part of "suburban Dublin". I'm just saying that they're not "just" suburbs. Not in the same way as a Rathgar or a Finglas or whatever purely "suburbs". And there are plenty of sources which describe them as being slightly "more" than that. Two things can be true. And, in honesty, I don't know why we wouldn't try and reflect more than one "truth". Or more than one source. (Otherwise - yes - it probably is silly to have to write hundreds of words in the face of WP:IDHT stuff from a warring anon. Just to justify restoring, effectively, one word and two letters ("{{tq|planned}}" and "suburb{{tq|an}}") to one lead. And similar ("suburb{{tq|an village}}") to another...) Guliolopez (talk) 20:53, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
:::I agree with you! Was not aware of the warring history, merely responded to an edit on my watchlist. Apologies if I got it wrong. Sarah777 (talk) 21:03, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
::::No worries. And no hassle. I'll admit to being a bit revert "trigger happy" myself at times. Lessons learned all around. Glad to close it out anyway. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 21:07, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
