Happy new year 2025! Today, pictured on the Main page, Tosca, in memory of her first appearance on stage OTD in 1900, and of principal author Brian Boulton. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:46, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

EggRoll RfA

Thank you for your clear and detailed reply to my support/comment which turned out to be less than cogent. In fact, as I wrote it, I knew I was really neutral and looking for crat comments. It was in the wrong venue and unfortunately wasted your time on setting me straight. I hope it was not the deciding vote and the crats would have had to review it in any case.

I added this comment on CMD's user talk page and is in pertinent to my reply here: "This RfA is now closed so I am replying to your question here. As it turned out, I think the crat chat was useful but I think I should not have used a support vote here to try to keep the matter in the cratchat zone. It was no doubt the wrong venue and had more to do with the old question of unbundling some of the tools. It is true that we really cannot judge or be sure whether candidates will limit their actions if they are approved for RfA. I am fine with the result as it turned out. As an experienced user, I should not have made a not fully thought out and spur of the moment comment. I should have realized that I was neutral at best, and again, at the wrote venue. The crats were not going to decide the matter on the grounds of de facto unbundling. And the candidate, no matter how sincere, could not be held to a promise to do so. I think the crat chat was likely anyway and my one vote/nonvote did not push the matter over. At least I hope it didn't since I was on the fence and ok with result."

As I noted, as a long-time user, I should have been more careful and not commented at all. Again, I appreciate your kind reply and explanation. No matter how long a user has been around, I think the user (me, in this case) may still make a mistake or misjudgment. In that case it is either necessary to fix it and/or helpful to get a reminder to be more careful about such things and to thank the user who brings attention it in a helpful way and perhaps fixes it. Here, the matter is closed so the best I can do is thank you for your comments. Donner60 (talk) 02:47, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

:Thanks for the note. My talkpage is largely quiet these days as I'm mostly retired and inactive, and have put many of the tools aside, so it's nice when someone drops by. No worries about triggering a Crat Chat. As a former Crat I can say that most Crats love a Crat Chat. A chance to put down the tea cup, brush away the cake crumbs, and do some Crat work. On the question of gaining the appropriate tools for helpful, gnomish editors like EggRoll, why don't you open a RfC? See where the community stands these days?
