You recently modified information about duplicate listings of Lower Snake Archeological District and Windust Caves Archaeological District in National Register of Historic Places listings in Washington and removed Lower Snake Archeological District from National Register of Historic Places listings in Walla Walla County, Washington. However, the information as it was before your edits reflect what's recorded in the National Park Service's National Register Information System (NRIS) database for these listings. Both districts are listed in both Franklin County and Walla Walla County. Do you have a source that indicates otherwise? It's quite common for NRHP districts to span across multiple counties. ::Unfortunately, the NPS's clunky online database interface (Focus) leaves a lot to be desired. One of its shortcomings is that when one uses the Geographic Search, listings that span state or county borders are only spit out in what they consider to be the "primary" geographic jurisdiction. However, their raw database identifies all counties for each listing. (They usually have the database posted for [http://nrhp.focus.nps.gov/natreg/docs/Download.html download], but I see that it's not available right now.) This database is what User:Elkman uses as the source for his extremely useful [http://www2.elkman.net/nrhp/ NRHP tools]. If you're not aware of his tools, I encourage you to explore them. One of them produces a list of all listings in a county and includes multi-county listings in all appropriate lists. Unfortunately, the NPS only releases an update database to the public every two or three years, so the database on which Elkman's tools are built is now (I think) at least 3 years out of date. I'm hoping the fact that the database is not currently available for download on the NPS site is an indication that they're finally ready to release an update. --sanfranman59 (talk) 18:11, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
