Disambiguation pages

Please note that disambiguation pages like :10,000 are meant to help readers find a specific existing article quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From the Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory

[[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|Speedy deletion]] nomination of [[:Category:2020-21 North American winter]]

File:Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on :Category:2020-21 North American winter requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Direct, reliable sources needed for Days of the Year pages

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages now require direct reliable sources for additions. For details see the content guideline, the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide or the edit notice on any DOY page. Almost all new additions without a reliable source as a reference are now being reverted on-sight.

Please do not add new additions to these pages without direct sources as the burden to provide them is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages.

Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 14:47, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

:We're not kidding. Your edit on March 21 has been reverted. Please stop adding unsourced info to pages, especially WP:DOY pages. Toddst1 (talk) 13:45, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Ana

Hi Wikihelp7586, Just to let you know I have restored the redirect for Tropical Storm Ana (2021) to List of storms named Ana, as the name Ana has already been used for a tropical cyclone this year in the South Pacific, which are also referred to as tropical storms at various times. As a result, I feel that the redirect to List of storms named Ana is more accurate than pointing it towards the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season.Jason Rees (talk) 18:03, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors

Dear project member,

This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.

We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 03:02, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

:@Hurricane Noah Okay, gotcha I'll participate in the discussion regarding the track colors whenever I get a chance to do so cheers. Cyclonetracker7586 (talk) 03:09, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

An article you recently created, Tropical cyclones in 2023, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). About Maria image

Hey I just wanted to write that I feel kinda bad for replacing some of your high-quality images with less-stellar IR nighttime imagery with Maria. I realized that IR’s are preferred for nighttime peaks like Lee and Otis so I probably should’ve done that earlier. If it’s any worth to you I guess you could attempt to touch up the newer image a little (and perhaps adjust the dimensions to standard levels) so it’s not all gone to waste :D MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 04:34, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

:@MarioProtIV I will try to enhance the IR image of Maria at my earliest opportunity. Regrettably, I've been busy with school work lately. While I have no objections of you replacing the image I uploaded and I understand why you changed it, I believe it would be more appropriate to utilize the visible true-color image of the storm for Maria. This choice better represents the storm, unlike in the cases of Lee and Otis where the utilization of infrared imagery was necessitated by the significantly reduced intensity of the storms when the last visible images were captured, while Maria's intensity was nearly at its peak when the 2115Z image was captured. TheWxResearcher (talk) 20:15, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

::Fair point, I had used the IR image because Maria’s peak occurred at 06Z on 9/20 and that was the best we could get. Whenever you can enhance it I’ll compare it to the visible image and depending on which looks better we can go from there. Unless you’d like to try to upload a nighttime visible shot like we have for Hurricane Eta? MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 20:39, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

:::@MarioProtIV Sure, I'll make an effort to improve the image within the next hour or so, and you can compare the images. TheWxResearcher (talk) 22:46, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

::::Furthermore, I can't replicate an image similar to Eta's because when Maria reached its peak intensity, it coincided with a new moon. The Suomi satellite's instrumentation requires a full moon to capture faint visible images of the storm unfortunately :(. TheWxResearcher (talk) 22:55, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

:::::@MarioProtIV I've improved the image to the best of my capabilities. TheWxResearcher (talk) 23:19, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
