Wiki project Latino and Hispanic heritage project invitation
{{WPLatinos-invite}}Erick (talk) 01:06, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
:Hello Erick, I appreciate the invite!
:I definitely will check it out and find ways I can contribute. Could you possibly take a look at my draft on Lyttle v United States? It's an article draft that describes the wrongful ICE deportation of a Puerto-Rican, American citizen, Mark Daniel Lyttle. I feel like it might be of interest to you, if you want to take a look. Very nice to meet you, and thanks for reaching out.
:Hope to be of assistance and looking forward to future collaboration. Happy Friday! Theedecemberblues (talk) 21:15, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks for the reply and the draft looks great! I have tagged the Latino and Hispanic heritage on it. Erick (talk) 18:59, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
I have sent you a note about a page you started
Hi Theedecemberblues. Thank you for your work on Cowboy Strike of 1883. Another editor, SamHolt6, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
{{Bq|1=Passes review; cites WP:RS and covers a WP:NOTABLE topic. Well done.}}

:{{Re|SamHolt6}} Thank you Sam! I appreciate your review of my article. If you have a spare moment, could you take a look at my other draft I've just posted? I was struggling with which infobox to use for it, and would appreciate any input you might have. Thanks again! Theedecemberblues (talk) 04:49, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

Anarchism
File:Pour 1973 1.jpg Hi Theedecemberblues,
I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to {{watch|Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anarchism}} our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, participate in edit drives, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!
We also have a mailing list if you'd like to be notified of upcoming edit drives.
Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 03:01, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
File:Control copyright icon.svg Hello Theedecemberblues! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see {{section link|Help:Translation|Licensing}}.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. MCE89 (talk) 13:33, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

File:Information.svg Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. MCE89 (talk) 13:34, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
::Hello {{ping|MCE89}} Thank you for reaching out!
::If you [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=History_of_Panama_%28to_1821%29&diff=1282768236&oldid=1184262130 click here], I was just improving the citation formatting for easier access to the source material. However, I was not the user who added the public domain content to the article.
::Additionally, on the Talk page, I disclosed that I wished to expand the article because most of the content had been plagiarized from the public domain source. I am currently in the process of adding more diverse sourcing to the live article, because most of the article was plagiarized from "Panama: A Country Study" before I began editing.
::Let me know if this clears anything up, or if you have any further critique/feedback. Thanks! Theedecemberblues (talk) 16:09, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
:::My apologies, it looks like you're correct. You did add material copied from a couple of copyrighted sources (which has now all been removed), but the unattributed public domain material was all added by another editor. Thanks for your efforts on the article and just make sure not to copy from copyrighted sources in future. MCE89 (talk) 16:28, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
::::Thank you MCE89! Could you let me know what material was inappropriate/copyrighted? I just want to make sure I don't repeat my mistake in the course of working on this article. Theedecemberblues (talk) 16:31, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
:::::Those edits to History of Panama (to 1821) have been removed from the page history by an administrator so I can't view them myself anymore, but there were two edits where you added text that was copied/closely paraphrased from https://www.jstor.org/stable/23645607 and https://www.jstor.org/stable/jj.12949112. You can see one of those edits being flagged by Copypatrol [https://copypatrol.wmcloud.org/en?id=1beb4dfe-9cf5-4301-a1e1-13036c1991df here] (click on iThenticate report to see a comparison to the source text). I also removed some text that you had added to Panamanian Americans that was too similar to the cited book source here. You might find it helpful to refer to this guide for some suggestions on avoiding close paraphrasing. MCE89 (talk) 16:45, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
::::::Thank you for the detail MCE89, I really appreciate it and will keep this in mind.
::::::If you take a look at the Panamanian Americans article, I've [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Panamanian_Americans&diff=1282962395&oldid=1278795027 revised the content] you removed for being too close to the source text. Let me know if the way I re-wrote the material looks good to you. If not, I would love to collaborate on a better way to word it. I believe that content is important for the article, has reliable sourcing and information. I would appreciate any more feedback or collaboration before jumping to deletion of the content all together.
::::::I am willing to improve and listen when needed, so thank you for your response.
::::::Thanks Theedecemberblues (talk) 17:08, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

::Hello Diannaa! Thank you for your message. I am trying to implement this critique with my future editing. However, I believe the content I added to the article was different enough to the source text to not be considered plagiarism. However, I am open to your critique. I think there is a lot of useful information in this source, but I want to be mindful of copyrighted content. I definitely do not want to be banned, and want to make worthwhile contributions to topics I care about.
::Would you be able to look at this [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3ATheedecemberblues%2FWorkspace&diff=1283495279&oldid=1283495245 diff showing the changes I made] vs the [https://www.fox29.com/news/ancient-tomb-filled-gold-sacrificial-victims-uncovered-panama FOX 29] article and let me know what I could have done differently? This is what the article looked like before I removed the two paragraphs that were copied. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:29, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
::::Thank you for the insight Diannaa. It seems like the tool is saying "Violation unlikely", and that the information I added was only 33.8% similar.
::::Here lies my confusion on the plagiarism allegation: the only thing I am using from the source material are the data points. I feel as though my rendition of the information was rewritten in neutral language using my own words. Everything else that was "copied" over were key data points and context in order to understand the information presented in the article. Let me know if I am completely wrong here, and maybe what you would have done differently. ThanksTheedecemberblues (talk) 21:37, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
:::::Please don't go by the percentage or the bot's assessment. Look at the actual comparison. There's too much overlap; it presents the same ideas in the same order using the same wording. we can't keep it. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:43, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
::::::Absolutely fair, thank you Diannaa. What do you think about [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3ATheedecemberblues%2FWorkspace&diff=1283500668&oldid=1283500117 this version]? I just reworked it Theedecemberblues (talk) 22:00, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
:::::::This could be [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3ATheedecemberblues%2FWorkspace&diff=1283501487&oldid=1283500117 another version]! Let me know when you can, thanks. Theedecemberblues (talk) 22:05, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::Thank you Diannaa! It was just implemented. If you ever notice any problems with my future edits, do not hesitate to reach out and I can address your concerns. I appreciate your feedback, genuinely. Theedecemberblues (talk) 13:22, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

Category:Wikipedians who have received a Teahouse invitation through AfC
:Hello theroadislong! Thank you for the review of my draft. I was wondering why you think the subject of the article does not meet notability guidelines? There is long and sustained dedicated mainstream coverage on their life as an artist, as well as quite extensive profile pieces done by Teen Vogue, the New York Times, and VICE News. Additionally, she was included in the Forbes 30 under 30 list and is a prominent painter of her generation. I feel as though, given all of these points, she meets notability guidelines. Any feedback is welcome, and I'm curious to understand your feelings on the matter. Thanks! Theedecemberblues (talk) 18:09, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
