Qui and HAU
(Re )
Yeah, I'm going to try out Qui as soon as I get off work. Assuming it works as well as advertised (and isn't too complex), I'll put two and two together and HAU should have real-time status again. Useight (talk) 23:54, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
:Okay, um, wow. I took a look a Qui and it's actually quite great. It just updates the contents of USERNAME/Status, which is perfect. Had HAU still been using the design I gave it, I would've just set it up myself, but looking at the code at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users/User, a monster has been created. I couldn't figure out how to get the status column working. Is that something you can put into the template? Maybe Cobi? Anyway, if either of you can make the change in the template to have it display the contents of USERNAME/Status, I can message everyone and let them know that Qui is the future of HAU. StatusBot
Hi Xeno, saw this edit. Is there anything I *need* to do? The only reason I'd added Statusbot was because I joined the highly active users project but I've never actually been contacted through that. Is there any other benefit to having on/off line status that I'm missing? It wasn't anything I thought of before the project. TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 02:54, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
:Hrm, nope, nothing really that you *need* to do at this time. HAU hasn't set in stone an alternate status display method. The edit summary was just a suggestion on an alternate status method for those that want one. –xenocidic (talk) 02:56, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Could you do me a favor and review the United States Senate election in Oregon, 2008. I removed a polling part that included two candidates that have dropped out. Another editor reverted the edit. The point is , that with the candidated gone, why should it be kept there. It really serves no purpose. style="text-align:left; background:240 248 255;">
Image:School.svg at school play with me...|thumb|right|140px]]
Thank you for your support in my recent RfA, which closed successfully. I felt the process was a thorough review of my contributions and my demeanor, and I was very gratified to see how many editors took the time to really see what I'm about and how I can be of help to the project. As a result, some editors changed their views during the discussion, and most expressed specific, detailed points to indicate their opinion (whether it was Image:Symbol_support_vote.svg, Image:Symbol_oppose_vote.svg, or Image:Symbol_neutral_vote.svg).
A number of editors were concerned about my level of experience. I was purposeful in not waiting until a particular benchmark occurred before requesting adminship, because I feel - as many do - that adminship is not a reward and that each case is individual. It is true that I am not the most experienced editor around here, but I appreciate that people dug into my contributions enough to reach the conclusion that I seem to have a clue. Also, the best thing about this particular concern is that experience is something an editor - or administrator - can always get more of, and I'll continue doing that, just as I've been doing. (If I seem a little slow at it, feel free to slap me.)
Thanks for your early support. I'm glad there are editors (and admins) who understand there are some of us who are just plugging along, doing our thing...
I am a strong believer in the concept that this project is all about the content, and I'm looking forward to contributing wherever I can. Please let me know if I can be of any help. In the meantime, I'm off to school...
Thanks again!

Real life
The guideline you mentioned doesn't really apply to this situation... See 100% for an example of why I change real life to the current design. –xenocidic (talk) 14:22, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
:Can you clarify your edit summary comment "you've mis-read the guideline; its the other way around" in reference to MOS:DP#Linking to a primary topic? Are you saying that you're only supposed to begin the page with a link to a primary topic if the page is not at Term (disambiguation)?
:The guideline says that the well-known meaning at the main Term page should not be mixed-in with the other links at Term (disambiguation) and should be placed at the top. Since the move of the dab page to Real life signifies that Real life (reality) is not necessarily the primary meaning, there is no need to place Real life (reality) at the top apart from the other links. Propaniac (talk) 14:34, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
::Well the guideline you mentioned only applies to situations where (disambiguation) is there. In the case of a disambiguation page at without it, the most common usage (most desired target) should be the first line (at least as far as I understand), per Wikipedia:MOS/DAB#Order of entries, and common practice as with the example I linked above. –xenocidic (talk) 14:37, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
::I'm not quite sure that the move itself signifies that it's not the main term. In fact I still don't see as there was consensus for the move in the first place, past consensus was that Real life (reality) should remain at Real life. –xenocidic (talk) 14:41, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
:::MOS:DP#Linking to a primary topic says, "Add this introductory line if the dab page has (disambiguation) in the title." MOS:DP#Order of entries is a separate section, discussing how to order the entries in the list. "Place the most-used meaning at the top" does not mean that there should always be an introductory line with the most-used meaning separate from the other entries in the list. If that were the case, then any talk of whether (disambiguation) is in the title could be removed from the primary topic section. What is the point of including the discussion of "(disambiguation)" in titles, if the guide actually means, "Well, whatever user comes along should decide which is the primary meaning and stick it up there"?
:::The fact that many disambiguation pages, such as 100%, don't follow the Manual of Style doesn't mean that the MOS says anything different than what it does.
:::The determination of primary meaning, for the purposes of formatting disambig pages, is just a reflection of whether there is an article at the main title. Real life (reality) is no longer at the main title and should therefore no longer be considered the primary meaning. As to whether there was consensus for the move, I left the discussion on the Talk page for five days and nobody objected to moving it. The previous discussion on the Talk page was both confused and outdated. The admin who closed the AFD (in which the discussion of the move proposal was also quite confused) said that the move should be discussed on the Talk page. Waiting five days for objection is not exactly stretching the confines of WP:BOLD. Propaniac (talk) 14:54, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
::::MOS:DP#Linking to a primary topic applies only when the disambiguation page has a (disambiguation) after it. Since this is not the case, someone will stumble onto the real life disambiguation page by typing "Real life" into the search box, thus, the most common meaning should be at the top. I suppose since Wikipedia doesn't take quorum into account, two people can consensus make, but past discussions seemed to support keeping "real life" (the term) at "Real life" (a side issue though; it doesn't really matter to me - your bold move is fine with me). However, what you describe is not how you determine "primary meaning" - common usage is, and I contend that "real life" (the term) is far more common than any of those albums, films, etc. –xenocidic (talk) 14:58, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
::::By the way, the relevant page which outlines the guideline about having the primary term as the first line of the DAB page is here: Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Disambiguation pages. –xenocidic (talk) 15:08, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
:::::We're in agreement that MOS:DP#Linking to a primary topic is limited to dab pages with (disambiguation) in the title. These pages are cases where there is a primary topic located at the main title (referred to by the MOS as "the primary topic article"), and this primary topic article should have a link at the top, going to the disambig page. It goes on to say that this primary topic article should not be mixed in with the other links and should be placed at the top, above the list. If, by "primary topic article", they meant "the most common meaning of the phrase, regardless of whether it's at the main title or not," that wouldn't make sense, because you wouldn't need a link to the disambig page from any article not located at the main title.
:::::Your argument, if I finally understand it, is that it would make more sense to put the most-common meaning at the top if the dab page IS located at the main title, because a user will thus be arriving at the dab page without already having gone through the most-common meaning. I don't entirely disagree with that logic. [The only qualm I have with it is that it would be entirely up to discretion which entry is the most common meaning.] If that's how you think dab pages should be organized, you're free to suggest a revision to the guidelines. However, what you're suggesting is absolutely not currently part of that section of the MOS, and the other section clearly means to put the most-common meaning at the top of the list of entries (as in the example given), not to separate it out as described in the former section. Propaniac (talk) 15:17, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
::::::I'm not sure if you read the above (15:08 UTC comment) before you made your reply, but it seems to speak to the issue you brought up. Anyhow, perhaps the best thing to do would be to refactor this entire conversation to Talk:Real life and get some other eyes on it, I'll admit: disambiguation is not one of my areas of expertise. –xenocidic (talk) 15:19, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
::::::: I hadn't seen your addendum/link when I left my last comment, but it doesn't change my impression of the situation. WP:Disambiguation says "primary topic" and links to the MOS for more detail, and I still don't believe the MOS can reasonably be interpreted as indicating anything other than "When the dab page is at Term (disambiguation), link to the primary topic, which is the article at Term, at the top of the page." Propaniac (talk) 16:14, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

::The reason your talk page isn't auto-archiving is because miszabot has a default "minthreadsleft" value of 5. Since your talk page has less than 5 threads, things aren't being archived. You could add "|minthreadsleft=0" to the configuration if you don't mind your talk page being completely harvested. I also think you need to delete the "counter" line because you're using date-based archiving. –xenocidic (talk) 15:12, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
::thanks, you're a legend. I still feel like I'm pulling you away from more important duties. Another question, in your opinion what sort of editing deserves a Barnstar??Lympathy Talk 15:20, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
:::heh, not at all. if anything, you're pulling me away from less important RL work. ;> as far as Barnstars, it's really up to each editor's discretion. they shouldn't just be handed out willy-nilly, but they also don't need to be restricted to people who've written a featured article from scratch. I typically hand out a da Vinci barnstar whenever anyone has helped me with a particularly difficult technical/wiki-code issue that I may have brought up at WP:VPT for example. or when someone may have gone thru a particular stressful wiki-incident and they don't completely implode, they'll get a resilience barnstar. stuff like that. in other words: you determine your own threshold. –xenocidic (talk) 15:24, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

:::::Well you could check out WP:NAS. There's so many guidelines and policies you have to know, it would be tough to point you to one specific policy. In a potential admin most people like to see experience with deletion, vandal-fighting, article building, wikiproject participation, etc. Basically, a well-rounded individual. One suggestion would be to keep an eye on WP:RFA and see what people are opposing for. –xenocidic (talk) 15:38, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

It's no different than the fact we say "Mohamed al-Kahtani was allegedly a member of al-Qaeda..." - the lack of certainty is actually put in to improve BLP standards so that we are not treating accusations and charges appear to be fact. So no, I don't see any problem with saying someone was believed "to have possibly been one of the hostagetakers" providing that claim is verifiable - which in this case, it is. access to deleted pages
Dear Xenocidic,
I would find it helpful if I can have access to the deleted pages under "Send the Light". I have partially restored the subject owing to the importance of the subject matter, as Wikipedia was one of the ports of call some folk made on the subject.
My quest, is one of the historic deleted pages was an unsubstantiated comment by an official of "Send the Light" (a Christian Book Distributor - probably now the largest on the world) to the effect that the Christian Book Shops needed STL more than STL needed them. I wish to chase this comment up for verficiation, but the only place I saw the comment was on the Wiki "Send the Light" page. I suspect as it was not verified, it may have been removed, but accessable from the history section.
However one sysop removed the entry in May, thinking the subject material unimportant - whilst hopefully the entry will be restored (its current reapperance is under debate) - I would value access to the previous deleted pages on the entry.

3RR question
Can you take a look at Andrew Wilson (theologian)? I'd like to revert deletion of content in the middle of an AfD, which is supposed to close today, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to. Am I? I'd also appreciate your comments on the dispute as well, if you have time to read through the AfD and talk pages. Thanks! Jclemens (talk) 17:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
:It would be your fourth revert, so, probably not a good idea. AFD isn't really my area of expertise but I'll see if I have anything intelligent to say. –xenocidic (talk) 17:48, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
::I will follow your recommendations. I think I've made my point on the AfD and talk pages, so I only hope the closing admin actually reads them. Thanks for your input and review. Jclemens (talk) 17:57, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
:::Do you know if any other AfD admins are around? The article debate is degenerating. Have you ever started an RfC? I'm looking for the right dispute resolution process, because there are multiple editors removing material from the article, and the AfD should have been closed already. I consider them to be vandalism and am reverting them. The only contact that I have had with this user is to revert their thread bumping at the science desk and posts which seek medical advice, is is against the policy of the refdesk. Hi
I suppose that's it now. While I was away, User:69.86.161.159, obviously the "opponent" of User:Truthful data (see history of article), reverted to "his" very biased version. While I was writting a warning to that user and one on the talk page, truthful data reverted back to his (in the opposite direction biased) version again. Either full protect the article (probably in my version, since, if I'm not completelly wrong, that's the least biased - although in general I would not ask a protection on a specific version, but this seems to be a special case) or block both parties for an extended period of time. --PaterMcFly (talk) 18:43, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

South Bend Watch Company...WikiPedia History & Reference (Heartland)
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Nancy Licini (nee Shelton) and this serves as notification that the WikiPedia South Bend Watch Company History and the reference page under Heartland is in accurate. I am not an editor and really do not have the time to figure out how to undo the deletions of my contributed revisions, or should I say corrections. Additionally, I do not understand the format for documenting your articles and the signing of my posts by typing four (4) tildes.
So, I am asking you to undo this and make the changes for me. Here are the facts:
Walter Cross Shelton, Sr. 08/12/1881-08/15/1975 (W.C. Shelton, Sr.) was my paternal grandfather and the man associated with the South Bend Watch Company. Mercel Joseph Shelton (M.J. Shelton) was his son (my uncle) and graduated from Purdue University. He became a Civil Engineer. My father, Walter Cordier Shelton, Jr. 11/22/1914-04/01/1998 (W.C. Shelton, Jr.) became an Aeronautical Engineer. Neither of Walter C. Shelton, Sr. sons were associated with the South Bend Watch Company. Again, it was W.C. Shelton, Sr. who was the jeweler and watchmaker in our family.
This is my family genealogy and I am asking you to kindly make the appropriate aforementioned corrections. As a reference regarding validity I am refering you to the South Bend Tribune (Obituary Section) of my father Walter C. Shelton, Jr. dated 04/04/1998. It does state "His father, Walter, Sr. was the manager of the South Bend Watch."
If you should have further questions, please feel free to contact me at the following. Thank you kindly for your prompt and courteous attention.
Cordially,

;South Bend Watch Company...Reference Pg (Heartland)
Thank you kindly for your assistance regarding the appropriate and accurate corrections involving the South Bend Watch Company and my grandfather Walter C. Shelton, Sr. as the watchmaker in our family. I do need further assistance. I have tried on several occasions to make contact and to no avail.
The additional Reference Pg is intitled Heartland under the History of the South Bend Watch Company in WikiPedia. This data too is inaccurate and states M.J. Shelton. It needs to read Walter C. Shelton, Sr. (W.C. Shelton, Sr.). Please assist in seeing to it that this article is corrected, edited with the aforementioned corrections of W.C. Shelton, Sr. associated with the South Bend Watch Company. Again, I thank you for your time and expertise. Please note that I have given to you and posted confidential contacts. Please feel free to delete my requests and contact data following these corrections.

;WikiPedia South Bend Watch Company Reference (Heartland) needs revision, please
Thank you kindly for your assistance and expertise. I appreciate your time and energy. As I mentioned, I am not an expert in being able to navigate these pages.
I have one last request: I am unable to edit the reference page entitled Heartland re: the WikiPedia Reference Section involving the South Bend Watch Company.
It is my hope that you will be able to make the appropriate corrections to the Reference data entitled Heartland. Again, M.J. Shelton is listed as the man associated with the South Bend Watch Company. That statement is inaccurate. The credit and correction is Walter Cross Shelton, Sr. (W.C. Shelton, Sr.) who was associated with the South Bend Watch Company. He was the watchmaker and jeweler in our family. Verification: South Bend Tribune 04/04/1998 Obituary Section entitled Walter C. Shelton, Jr. It states his father Walter C. Shelton, Sr. was the man associated with the South Bend Watch Company.

I have contacted so many, and this reference page well, I cannot edit. The ringmaster? I haven't the faintest idea how to contact him/her, believe me I've tried. The last time I believe this reference pg was edited was 1999. If you could locate a resource for contact to accomplish my goal re these corrections, I would appreciate it. Resources I've tried seem to be dead. Sorry about this, but I cannot see this ending until the corrections are made involving W.C. Shelton, Sr. and the South Bend Watch Company.

Help
Can you take a look at several revisions starting here and give me your opinion? This will take a few minutes of digging, but I see several blocks that look a little too trigger happy to me. I mean, how can an admin block a an account after it makes only 3 edits in 2 minutes, with 1 warning? Am I off base? Frank | talk 15:05, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
:I gather you're talking about SHANKSTERONER, the vandalism is completely inappropriate, and I seriously doubt we could reform this user with the standard 4 warning/temporary block cycle. User:Filll's RFA questions
Hi! As you said on my talk page you were meaning to address the Filll thing (presumably his questions and lack of voting), I thought I ought to draw your attention to something on his User talk page. There are 4 boxes, and in the fourth one down, he states that he will not be voting in RFAs, RFBs and so on. His reasoning is sound - not wanting to be attacked for his votes. I think most people would get rather narked about that. I would guess that he continues including the questions in RFAs so that people can assess the candidancy's reasoning. Still, answering them wasn't a complete waste of time; I did get weburiedoursecretsinthegarden's vote, even if he didn't read the answer! Take care, StephenBuxton (talk) 16:28, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
:I think he wrote that around my RFA and those "other" contentious RFAs, and stopped adding his questions. He's since started adding them again. Anyhow, I am going to wait for a few more RFAs with his questions (that were answered) close to see if he chimes in on any of them, and then leave him a message. –xenocidic (talk) 16:29, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
::I might be able to help you out there. Before I saw his comment on his user page, I was looking at his contributions to see if he was about and had the opportunity to read my answers. I saw him add to this page, so I had a look; really to see if my answers were any different to his. What I found was a list of people who had responded to them, with myself being the latest addition. StephenBuxton (talk) 17:08, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
:::Basically, my thing is, if he's going to ask those questions - which can takes upwards of an hour or two (or more) to answer if they really put thought into them - he should weigh in on the RFA, be it support, neutral, or oppose. There was one RFA already closed he didn't vote on (who answered both his questions, and then there's yours. Once your RFA closes, I'll drop by his talk page to encourage him to do so (if he doesn't end up weighing in) or consider not asking the questions anymore. –xenocidic (talk) 17:11, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU, Status, and you!
As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible system) - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 23:01, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

I'll go and take myself off again. GlassCobra 20:37, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
:::::That explains it=) Anyhow there's where I pulled the spamlist from; in either case, I doubt there will be any more spams from HAU, unless there's another public service announcement that needs made. –xenocidic (talk) 20:38, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
::::::Still, I don't feel that I should be classified as highly active at the moment. I am curious, though, as to how you guys do your status updates. Wasn't StatusBot shut down? Or is it just updated manually? GlassCobra 20:41, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
:::::::Somewhat manually but assisted with either WP:QUI or scripts similar to User:Xenocidic/statusChanger2.js. –xenocidic (talk) 20:43, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Page Syncexpert
Hi Xenocidic,
Can you please send me a copy of the deleted page Syncexpert?
I am new to adding page on wikipedia and did not aware of the rules. Now I know.
With the returned copy I can change focus of the page to the proprietary data sync algorithm used in the software, instead of advertising the software.
By the way, I was indeed inspired by another wikipedia page on a competing product of SyncEXP. I just copied their wiki codes straightly and replaced with our names plus some adjustment on the wordings. Can I send you the wiki link of that product so you may comment on its long living in wiki?
Thanks for caring on this matter,

:::Are you using Firefox now? Twinkle isn't compatible with IE. You will find Twinkle's functionality when you click on a "diff", you will see options to "[rollback (AGF)] || [rollback] || [rollback (VANDAL)]". 500-1000 edits are requested for a tool is "no more momentous than installing Twinkle"? Is this the norm at RfR? (And sorry if I come off a bit abrupt.) —Giggy 11:21, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
:The norm (AFAIK) is that it's not given to brand new accounts with no history of vandal fighting... The suggested edit count was to ensure he didnt go revert 5 vandalisms and re-apply. (and abrupt reply for an abrupt question! ;>) –xenocidic (talk) 12:12, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Joel Kass
Need your help again, this time on this composer here, where I've stumbled into another long-going edit-war. After getting involved into a revert war with several Users, IP's and possibly some sock-puppets I've listed the article at WP:RFPP for full-protection. The request took some time to be handled, and in the meantime I've checked the talk page (where reverting and edit-warring is seemingly also rather the way to go...) I decided that I should actually nominate the article for deletion as HOAX.
Copied from article talk page (from myself): On my request, this article has been protected due to heavy edit-warring. (Of course in the wrong version, but I don't care). But this discussions here and some googling (Zero hits for "Nacht Der Tanz" outside WP, Opus 114 is from Brahms, opus 711 doesn't exist...), the fact that Nacht Der Tanz isn't proper german (should say "Nacht des Tanzes" or "Der Tanz der Nacht" or similar) and the fact that the subject probably doesn't even know german makes me think that the accusation of this being a hoax might be true. Also, there are way to many sock-puppets involved in these discussions.
Unfortunatelly, the article has now been protected in the meantime. Can you open up an Rfd debate for me please? --PaterMcFly (talk) 14:17, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
:It looks like someone beat you to it. It would be best if you made your arguments at the existing AFD. –xenocidic (talk) 14:24, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

<--If the things on the talkpage are true (hoax, Zionist/anti-Palestinian claims), that AFD/article are both gonna get really messy with socks/ANI/DRV...just a fair warning to avoid it if you don't want to get too ridiculously involved. ANI is the Administrator Noticeboard- Ok can happen, but what are DRV and GA? WP:GA does certainly not apply on this one... :Right, I saw your request at RFR... It's probably still a little early, you've less than 500 edits. Image question
Hi. Is it "done" to put a category on an empty image page, when the image is hosted at commons? This is out of my usual neighborhood, but a user placed a copyright tag on :Image:Nixon greets POW McCain.jpg, so I've been investigating that. The image was deleted on Wikipedia in October of 2006. I thought it had been re-uploaded, but, no, it only looks like it's here because somebody has added a category. This may be fine and dandy, but as I do practically nothing with images (aside from what I've been learning at WP:CP, I don't know. The image is already in that category on commons, but for all I know the duplication may be necessary to make it list here. And if you don't know, I'll ask elsewhere, but I thought I'd give it a shot. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:46, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

e.g. check every 2 minutes...
last edit less than 5 minutes ago = online,
last edit 5-30 minutes ago = busy,

last edit >120 minutes ago = offline

Template substitution
What exactly do you do to get AWB to substitute the templates? I can't figure it out. Thanks for the help, « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 00:09, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
:You just enable find & replace and paste the templates you want substituted into the Template substitution box each on a new line. –xenocidic (talk) 00:11, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
::Yes, I got that. Next? « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 00:27, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
:::Then you just build the list, start it, and it should work... It doesn't automatically recognize a template's redirects, or if they person typed Template: or not. (Most people don't so, I just put it without the "Template:". –xenocidic (talk) 00:29, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- What I don't understand is that the AWB page says "This page contains templates that AWB will automatically substitute on user talk pages.". But having to paste all those templates in the box and correct for such things as Template: or no template and the redirects doesn't seem very automatic to me. Maybe I'm doing things the hard way, so I'm going to ask Reedy to chime in here. –xenocidic (talk) 00:34, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
:OK. How exactly do you "build the list?" « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 00:36, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
::"what transcludes page" and paste the templates into the field separated by p|pes. don't bother trying now though, addbot got most of them, and then xenobot got whatever stragglers were left over. you'll only find about 6 or 7 and those are in archives and such. –xenocidic (talk) 00:37, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
:::Heh. Its loads easier than that for the user talk ones. Cant remember off the top of my head, as i've only just got up. I'll get something to eat and then check the instructions, and post them here/on the user manual for you! —Reedy 08:19, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
::::Make a list of user talk pages, make sure general fixes are enabled, and on the first run through, it will load the templates to be subsituted, and take it from there. :No problem, I'll try and help with the manual wherever I can. –xenocidic (talk) 18:21, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
::As a thought, seeing as that substiution is a general fix, it should skip on the skip if only general fixes changed, tbh. —Reedy 18:41, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
:::True, but the reason I asked is because I want to be able to avoid making only minor (insignificant) general fixes if it doesn't find/recognize a template to subst. –xenocidic (talk) 18:45, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
::::But the chances are, IHMO, you'd just be processing just user talk... It doesnt apply other general fixes to user talk pages. —Reedy 19:34, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
:::::Excellent. Thanks for clearing that up for me. –xenocidic (talk) 19:36, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually, you are right i think. We want to skip IF no user talk templates are subst'd, tying it in with the "skip if only general fixes changed", would mean, that if only they were subst'd it would change. 3079/3080 - Added an option on the "Skip Options" form. lolz... I'll look into the edit summary bit later! —Reedy 20:52, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

:::::I'm not sure I follow? –xenocidic (talk) 22:02, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Article Deletion
A few weeks back, Orangemike deleted Plymouth Rock Studios on the account that it was unnotable. I disagreed with him and asked him to take a second look at his decision and he never responded. I think that it is notable because of the fact that it is the only company building a movie and television studio east of the Mississippi. It also exists today and is known locally. Basically I want to revive the article with the wording on it so I don't have to make a whole new one. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 18:22, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
:Userfied to User:Ktr101/Plymouth Rock Studios. If you can make it meet inclusion criteria, the previous article should probably be restored before you paste the "new version" due to multiple GFDL-significant contributors. –xenocidic (talk) 18:26, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Twinkle/QUI
Twinkle & QUI just randomly decided to start working today. Can you explain more in depth the difference between the undo tool and the rollback options twinkle provides? ThanksWashburnmav (talk) 19:08, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
:Rollback will allow you to roll back all the consecutive edits by a particular edit. So say they vandalized by making 6 different edits, you could roll all of them back. there's three different rollbacks, "AGF" should be used whenever the editor may have been trying in a good-faith way to improve the article but "fails" (twinkle prompts for an edit summary), rollback "vandal" should only be used for blatant vandalism and doesn't bother asking you for an extra edit summary. rollback (just rollback) should be used for anything in between and a descriptive edit summary should be used. glad they're working now, it will be much easier to justify giving you rollback with some solid vandal fighting under your belt. –xenocidic (talk) 19:14, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

El nido foundation
Hello. I recently wrote the article "El nido foundation", which was marked for deletion a few days after. I guess I didn't realize how fast the deletion would happen (I'm new at Wikipedia, and I thought I had time to add stuff to the article so it won't be deleted). Anyway, it had been deleted a couple of days ago. I want to submit a more comprehensive article that I hope would be worth being included in Wikipedia. Will I be allowed to do this? If I will be allowed to do so, can I please get a copy of the most recent edit on the topic? Thanks.

Simple. I believe Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and i also believe having links of trailers and such in all articles violates "Wikipedia is not a mirror for external link" which is addressed here here. If people want to see trailers they can search using search engines like google, ask jeeves and many others. Anyways this is what i see. If you were having problems with me removing trailers you can add them back and i can also add plenty of trailers in all articles and we all be filling links with trailers and such. Easy isn't? :). Any more questions brother?. --SkyWalker (talk) 13:45, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

:: That is just filefront spam. I wonder if they paying them to add such links. Iam just getting tired this sort of spam. In all most all gaming articles new users comes and add filefront trailers. If people eagerly wanting to see this sort of trailers they can go to the site and view it. Instead of adding 5 to 10 filefront links in each article. Even Call of Duty 4 had such link but it was removed by other users. --SkyWalker (talk) 13:55, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Not all Wikipedia editors are honest
Something to keep in mind in discussions. For example, an editor might try to justify his or her behavior by citing 'threats' or other incidents that just didn't ever happen. Which is why we require editors to back up such claims with diffs. We must assume good faith absent evidence to the contrary, but that does not require us to pretend that all editors actually will edit in good faith. Dlabtot (talk) 15:52, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your support at my RFA, which as you already know, closed successfully. Heck, you even knew about it before me! However, as is traditional in these things, the candidate sends round a thank you template. But as my HTML skills aren't brilliant (way to go, admitting it now...), I thought a hand-typed, tailor-made message for each participant would be nicer. And a terser one would be better too, I realise now, having spent a few minutes typing this one, and I still have over fifty to go. Why didn't I ask Balloonman for help on that...? Seriously though, your support throughout the RFA was greatly appreciated. StephenBuxton (talk) 20:54, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
