File:Information.svg Hello. I have noticed that you {{usertalk other|[https://xtools.wmflabs.org/editsummary/en.wikipedia.org/{{urlencode:Yedaman54|PATH}} often]|often}} edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Danners430 (talk) 13:18, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

:@Yedaman54 you’re still regularly editing without an edit summary. Why? Danners430 (talk) 21:40, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

::Your right I should be better but tbh I'm mostly just vibing and making inconsequential edits. If i'm making a large edit that will get attention I'll leave one but right now I'm just not very bothered to leave an edit summary since theres no rule saying I have too. Thats the truth. :::The Wikipedia policy is at WP:UNRESPONSIVE - it very specifically says “try” to use an edit summary. So there’s an argument to be made that if you just don’t care and deliberately ignore summaries then you’re in breach of that policy. All it takes is 2 seconds to add a really simple summary - like “ce” if you’re making a copyedit, “dates” if you’re changing date formats, “cites” if you’re editing or adding sources… plenty of ways to be helpful. But not leaving a summary is exceedingly unhelpful to other editors, and is in the eyes of many simply rude for that reason. Danners430 (talk) 05:05, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
