Concerns surrounding my upload of Jon Erik Hexums candid

I noticed that this image https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Jon-Erik_Hexum_Candid.jpg was flagged by you due to concerns about its similarity to a photo on Listal. I want to clarify that the image I uploaded is not sourced from Listal, and that the one on Listal is a low quality, reupload of this. My friend posted that, whereas I uploaded the full, high resolution source here. The one on Listal is also missing many details that are visible on my upload. I can also show the full version of the photo, that includes Joan Collins to his right side, as well as some distant buildings and other press photographers. Fexbd (talk) 09:39, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

:{{u|Fexbd}}, are you asserting that you personally took that photograph in 1982? Cullen328 (talk) 09:50, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

::Yes, yes I did. I scanned the photo onto my hard drive. I collected and purchased many photos and off shoots of Hexum before his demise. Fexbd (talk) 09:52, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

:::{{u|Fexbd}}, collecting and purchasing photos is not the same thing as taking photos. Did you hold your own camera and click the shutter with Hexum standing in front of you? Cullen328 (talk) 09:55, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

::::Of course! That's what i've been trying to say, this is MY photo, which I uploaded onto a facebook private group around 10 years ago, and decided to publish it here as Hexums thumbnail, because his old photo by Jenkins looks sloppy. Fexbd (talk) 09:57, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

:::::Then mentioning collecting and purchasing photos was an unnecessary distraction. Cullen328 (talk) 10:00, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

::::::That's before you told me purchasing photos was irrelevant, so I thank you for bringing me up to speed. I wanted to add context to show my history as a vivid collector of his photos, as well as being the one to take some candids of him during his time at Los Angeles. Fexbd (talk) 10:05, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

::::::On the topic of this discussion, I added the proper licensing to the source material of the image page, which was flagged as I had forgotten to put anything there when uploading the photo. Is the photo liable to be removed from the deletion request? Fexbd (talk) 10:11, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

Why is this discussion on my talk page, and why is {{ping|Maclin Kane}} signing posts with the non-existent {{user| Fexbd}} account? --ZimZalaBim talk 12:50, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

:Fexbd was my previous username, I changed it to my real name for clarity. Also, I put this here because it showed you were the one who raised the photo being similar to another one posted on listal.com, unless this is a mistake? Maclin Kane (talk) 12:55, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

::[https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Jon-Erik_Hexum_Candid.jpg&action=history This is the image's history] and doesn't include me. That said, it seems really odd that you suddenly emerge here with an image that is strikingly similar to [https://www.gettyimages.com/search/2/image?family=editorial&phrase=jon%20erik%20hexum&sort=best professional images] from an event, and post an image that appears to have been published in a paper/magazine with a corner cut out to remove any other text, and then claim it is yours. --ZimZalaBim talk 13:02, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

:::That's because it is part of a clipping. And that is all there is left of the photo. Here's a cleaner copy that you won't find anywhere else. You can claim it as similar because those are high quality professional photos taken of him at the event, where this is just a random flash that never made it to official stock photography sites.

:::But I do apologise if you had nothing to do with this, it's just I'm quite new to this website and I thought you were the admin who scheduled it for deletion. I am sorry. However, I've since added the appropriate licensing releasing the photo to the public domain, as that was all that was asked for when I checked to avoid the deletion schedule. I looked online and it recommended me to check with an admin to see this through. Maclin Kane (talk) 13:21, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

::::https://imgur.com/a/6HvbNwX

::::Here's another one I took, a few moments before the other one you saw. Not quite as flattering for Hexum. That's about it. I'm just trying to publicise a nice photo of him to replace his last one by Christie, as it's outdated and has served as his thumbnail for many years already. Maclin Kane (talk) 13:30, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

:::::I find it unlikely that you own the rights to the image -- if you even took it -- since it [https://www.reddit.com/r/trueratecelebrities/comments/1ke67u3/19571984_actor_jonerik_hexum_but_its_media_not/ appears to have appeared in a print publication]. You're suggesting that you are the photographer, that the image was published decades ago, and yet you retain the copyright, and now suddenly decided to upload it here? That just seems quite odd. --ZimZalaBim talk 19:45, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

::::::Haha, yes it's all a bit jumbled up and I appreciate it might appear confusing to you; here is where I originally posted it within a private Hexum fanclub group in 2015:

::::::https://imgur.com/a/C9iPjoy

::::::And yes, it does appear in a little snippet. I met with some journalists that day and that was my only photo that became publicised, on the basis of a non-exclusive editorial license. If memory serves I should be free to republish the photo now on this public domain, or at least that's what I've assumed. I've wanted to change Jons thumbnail photo here for a few years actually but could never understand the process to do so until now. Maclin Kane (talk) 20:14, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

:::::::No, there's no reason to assume this image is in the public domain. --ZimZalaBim talk 12:46, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

::::::::I understand. Thank you Maclin Kane (talk) 12:51, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

Hank Shaw

Just FYI, I have restored the Hank Shaw content to cream of sorrel soup. He won a James Beard Award for his wild foods blog and has published several cookbooks on the topic. jengod (talk) 23:20, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

Re: Safeway Fire

Hi! I just wanted to let you know I left you a question at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/2018_Phoenix_Safeway_fire

I'm not much onto looking at policy. I just love writing. In fact the reason I was demoted from administrator is ...I like writing....I read the policy guidelines about 5 times in ten years before being demoted. Anyways, best wishes to you. Thanks and God bless you!-oh..and just in case, i like to make fun of things, mostly myself with my nicknames so.... Jeanette No Policies Martin (here) 23:21, 30 May (2025)

:I don't know what "Southwest Supermarkets" fire you're talking about, and there isn't any hard-and-fast rule about whether a fatility makes it notable. I suggest you consider WP:GNG and WP:EVENTCRITERIA. --ZimZalaBim talk 02:04, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

::I think it's best to just leave it alone then. I have a few other articles that indeed are needed in mind anyways. The Southwest Supermarkets fire was the one where Bret Tarver, a fireman, died, which I noted on the Safeway Fire article because firefighters credited the lessons learned on that fire for there being no deaths on the Safeway one-plus Southwest Supermarkets was only about ten blocks away. I used to shop at both places myself a lot. But yes, I have a pletora other articles in things and people that pass the notability bar and are on refutable reliable sources. Which I consider "projects", so...anyways thank you and God bless you! Sincerely, Jeanette Lollipop licker girl Martin (que me dices?) 08:50, 31 May, 2025 (UTC)

Saccone Joly family

Hi! This time I wanted to ask your opinion on a subject that's dear to me, the Saccone-Joly family. I love their videos and I'm a huge fan, but that's not the matter i want to ask you about. I am thinking about making a stub with what's available there on reliable sources, but only found that out of all the pages n the net, 3, possibly four, were published on sources that Wikipedia considers reliable. Also, I enjoyed the list of sources Wikipedia considers reliable but that is another issue too. Wikipedia has not publicly assessed the reliability if several international newspapers. I want to write an article but don;t want it to end up on AFD. Meanwhile, another article that i had deleted years ago, i found out a lot of reliable sources for , this one about Georgina Mollo. In the early 00s, when we were starting, I had several articles deleted because they had no links to reliable sources. But Im bringing some back because I've figured out with the types of sources i've found, notability will be proven. Mollo for example, is covered on several of the leading Argentine newspapers. Anyways I just wanted to ask your opinion about the Saccone-Joly familiy's notoriety and to see if the sources available about them online would grant an article that wont end up on AFD. Thanks and God bless you! Jeannete Mija Mija Martin (aha?) 06:30, 1 June, 2025 (UTC)

:I don't know who that is, and it certainly isn't my role to try to pre-screen possible articles. A good starting place for you might be our general notability guidelines, and perhaps asking the Teahouse for advice? --ZimZalaBim talk 14:10, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

::I sort of did. But i asked specifically about their transgender daughter Edie, who is the star of most of their videos. They said a couple of more reliable sources were needed for Edie to have her own article. But I found out that the entire family is on 3, 4 or 5 reliable sources, like Cosmopolitan magazine. Then also...I checked to see if Cosmo is on the list of sources here and found out that list needs a lot more additions. I don't know..to me Cosmopolitan, which has been published for decades, would seem like a reliable source. Anyways, yeah, I think bringing this up at Teahouse would be a great idea Thanks! God bless )if you believe in God, if not, blessings going your way anyways from me)! Jeannete Dreamer Dewanne Martin (aha?) q6:310, 2 June, 2025 (UTC)
