Voetbalvereniging Door Ons Vrienden Opgericht, commonly known as DOVO, is a football club from Veenendaal, Netherlands.
History
The club was founded in 1933 as DVO and later changed its name to DOVO to set itself apart from a nearby club with an identical name.{{cite news|first=Eelco|last=Brinkman|title=Bij zes clubs in de eerste klasse gaat dit jaar de vlag uit voor een feestje|newspaper=Nederlands Dagblad|location=Amersfoort|date=7 June 1993|page=5|via=Delpher|access-date=19 September 2020|url=http://resolver.kb.nl/resolve?urn=ddd:010628604:mpeg21:p005|quote=Op 23 april 1933 richtten een aantal Veenendaalse buurtvrienden de voetbalclub DVO op.
In 1970 DOVO promoted to the Eerste Klasse, where it initially won sections in 1975, 1977, 1979, 1989, 1991, and 1994. In 1974, it drew national attention by beating NSVV from Numansdorp, 11–0, while pointing out that DOVO players had made mistakes.{{cite news|title=Bij DOVO hebben ze er zin in; Hoera-stemming in Veenendaal|newspaper=De Telegraaf| location=Amsterdam|date=16 November 1974|page=35|via=Delpher|access-date=19 September 2020|url=http://resolver.kb.nl/resolve?urn=ddd:011198647:mpeg21:p035|first=Gert-Rien|last=Van der Waals}} In 1979 it also became the Saturday Champion of the Netherlands. From 1996 to 20017 it played in the Hoofdklasse, except for two seasons back in the Eerste when it took Eerste Klasse championships (2007 and 2011). In 1999 and 2004 DOVO won section championships in the Hoofdklasse. Since 2017, DOVO plays in the Derde Divisie.{{cite news|url=https://www.gelderlander.nl/voetbal-de-vallei/dovo-promoveert-naar-derde-divisie~a3df1100/|newspaper=De Gelderlander|title=DOVO promoveert naar derde divisie|quote=Door een 0-1 zege bij SteDoCo heeft DOVO de promotie naar de derde divisie bereikt. Relations with other teams
In 2012, DOVO signed a partnership agreement with SBV Vitesse. This agreement was amended and renewed, for indefinite duration, in 2019.
DOVO has a rivalry with another Veenendaal football club, GVVV. In 2019, an indoors game between the clubs was ended after several physical fights.{{cite news|newspaper=Algemeen Dagblad|url=https://www.ad.nl/utrecht/zaalvoetbalduel-tussen-veenendaalse-rivalen-dovo-en-gvvv-gestaakt-na-vechtpartijen~a77d79a5/|title=Zaalvoetbalduel tussen Veenendaalse rivalen DOVO en GVVV gestaakt na vechtpartijen|quote=Een zaalvoetbalduel tussen DOVO en GVVV is vrijdagavond voortijdig gestaakt na diverse vechtpartijen.
