History

Vairankode is located near Thirunavaya, a holy city famous for its Mamangam festival. Vairankode, situated in Malappuram district, was a brahmadeya village under the Azhvanchery Thamprakkal. Vairankode Azhvanchery, which belonged to Vettathu Nadu, was under the rule of the Tambras. The Vairankode Road was built later on as the main route linking Vettath Tampuran fort and Athavanad Azhvancherymana. This road connects Vairankode, Tirur, and Pattarnadakkavu with one another. Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri, the renowned poet, was born in Melpatthur Illat near the Nila River, just 4 km from Vairankode.{{Cite journal |last=Panikker |first=Meena J. |date=2020-07-14 |title=Katala vesa: On Revisiting the Hunter |journal=Rupkatha Journal on Interdisciplinary Studies in Humanities |volume=12 |issue=4 |doi=10.21659/rupkatha.v12n4.04 |issn=0975-2935|doi-access=free }}{{Citation |title=THE ARRANGEMENT OF THE PARVANS IN THE SOUTHERN RECENSION |work=Philology and Criticism |pages=367–378 |url=http://dx.doi.org/10.2307/j.ctv301d8x.23 |access-date=2024-04-01 |publisher=Anthem Press|doi=10.2307/j.ctv301d8x.23 |url-access=subscription }}{{Cite journal |last1=K |first1=PONNUSWAMY |last2=P |first2=SANTHI |last3=M |first3=SUBRAMANIAN |date=2000 |title=Effect of various establishment methods on the growth and yield of rice |journal=Madras Agricultural Journal |volume=87 |issue=september |pages=389–391 |doi=10.29321/maj.10.a00479 |issn=0024-9602|doi-access=free }}
