The village is located along the sea shore, about {{convert|10|km}} north of the town of Namsos and about {{convert|3|km}} east of the village of Ramsvika. Vemundvik Church is located in the village.

Name
The village (originally the parish) is named after the old Vemundvik farm ({{langx|non|Vémundarvík}}) since the first Vemundvik Church was built there. The first element is an old male name {{lang|no|Vémundr}} or the more modern version, Vemund.
