History

Vended was formed in 2018 by Griffin Taylor and Simon Crahan when they were teenagers; the duo then recruited Jeremiah Pugh, Cole Espeland, and Connor Grodzicki.{{Cite web |last=Skinner |first=Tom |date=2022-08-12 |title=Vended say they didn't get help from their dads in Slipknot: "We learned this shit by ourselves" |url=https://www.nme.com/news/music/vended-say-they-didnt-get-help-from-dad-their-dads-in-slipknot-we-all-learned-this-shit-by-ourselves-3289001 |access-date=2024-03-30 |website=NME |language=en-GB}} Their name is pronounced with emphasis on the second syllable: "ven-DEAD", and is based on the word vendetta. The band avoided touring during their first few years due to their young age.{{Cite web |last=DiVita |first=Joe |date=2022-08-18 |title=Vended's Simon Crahan Says He's a Better Drummer Than His Dad (Slipknot's Clown) - 'It's a Fact' |url=https://loudwire.com/vended-simon-crahan-better-drummer-slipknot-clown/ |access-date=2024-03-30 |website=Loudwire |language=en}}

The younger Taylor and Crahan resist comparisons of the band to Slipknot, maintaining that they are largely self-taught musicians and did not receive extensive instructions from their fathers.{{Cite web |last=Branniganlast |first=Paul |date=2022-08-11 |title=Vended's Griffin Taylor and Simon Crahan are sick of taking shit for being Slipknot kids: "People can f**k right off" |url=https://www.loudersound.com/news/vendeds-griffin-taylor-and-simon-crahan-are-sick-of-taking-shit-for-being-slipknot-kids-people-can-fk-right-off |access-date=2024-03-30 |website=LouderSound |language=en}}{{Cite web |last= |date=2022-08-10 |title=Vended's Simon Crahan On Touring With His Father's Band Slipknot: "If You Were In Our Position, You Would Take The Tour, So Shut The F*ck Up" |url=https://www.theprp.com/2022/08/10/news/vendeds-simon-crahan-on-touring-with-his-fathers-band-slipknot-if-you-were-in-our-position-you-would-take-the-tour-so-shut-the-fck-up/ |access-date=2024-03-30 |website=Theprp.com |language=en-US}} This assertion has been supported by the elder Taylor and Crahan.{{Cite web |last=Trapp |first=Philip |date=2023-06-01 |title=Corey Taylor Says He Didn't Help His Son Griffin With Anything |url=https://loudwire.com/slipknot-corey-taylor-says-didnt-help-son-griffin-vended/ |access-date=2024-03-30 |website=Loudwire |language=en}}{{Cite web |last=Trapp |first=Philip |date=2023-06-30 |title=Why Corey Taylor Is 'Very Jealous' of His Son Griffin's Talent |url=https://loudwire.com/slipknot-corey-taylor-griffin-vended-talent-jealous-age/ |access-date=2024-03-30 |website=Loudwire |language=en}}{{Cite web |last=Schaffner |first=Lauryn |date=2024-03-21 |title=Why Slipknot's Clown Eased His Son Simon Crahan Into Metal |url=https://loudwire.com/clown-eased-simon-crahan-metal-discover-slipknot-his-own/ |access-date=2024-03-30 |website=Loudwire |language=en}}
