Verkhovsky District ({{langx|ru|Верховский райо́н}}) is an administrativeLaw #522-OZ and municipalLaw #446-OZ district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Oryol Oblast, Russia. It is located in the east of the oblast. The area of the district is {{convert|1072.4|km2|sp=us}}.{{citation needed|date=October 2012}} Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Verkhovye. Population: 17,283 (2010 Census);{{ru-pop-ref|2010Census}} {{ru-census|p2002=21,384|p1989=24,888}} The population of Verkhovye accounts for 41.5% of the district's total population.
