Vicki! is a syndicated talk show hosted by actress and Carol Burnett Show alumna Vicki Lawrence from 1992 to 1994.{{cite book |last1=Hyatt |first1=Wesley |title=The Encyclopedia of Daytime Television |date=1997 |publisher=Watson-Guptill Publications |isbn=978-0823083152 |url=https://archive.org/details/encyclopediaofda00hyat/page/452/mode/2up|access-date=22 March 2020|page=453}} The show earned a number of Daytime Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Talk Show Host, though it was short-lived and ended after its second season due to creative conflicts behind the scenes between Lawrence and the show's distributor, Group W (whose stations formed the main group carrying the series).{{cite web |url= https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103575/awards?ref_=tt_ql_op_1|title= Vicki! Background
After the end of Mama's Family and hosting the daytime network version of Win, Lose or Draw for NBC, Vicki Lawrence was put together with Group W to do a talk show in the vein of its long-running shows with Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas, as Lawrence had no interest in hosting a tabloid talk show.{{cite news |last= King|first= Susan |date= August 30, 1992|title= VICKI LAWRENCE: Lighten Up, Daytime!|url= https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-08-30-tv-8176-story.html|work= LA Times|access-date= August 21, 2017}}{{cite web|url=http://www.emmytvlegends.org/interviews/people/vicki-lawrence#|title=Vicki Lawrence|work=Archive of American Television|access-date=August 21, 2017}}
Cancellation
The show was renewed after the first season, with Lawrence gaining more creative control of the series through the summer hiatus.{{cite news |last= Benson|first= Jim |date= June 17, 1993|title= Lawrence, Group W reconcile on 'Vicki!'|url= https://variety.com/1993/tv/news/lawrence-group-w-reconcile-on-vicki-107901/|work= Variety|access-date= August 21, 2017}} The show ended after the second season as it became clear the mid-afternoon Griffin/Douglas model with celebrity guests was outmoded, along with tension behind the scenes to move towards the tabloid format becoming more popular and Group W (which was about to go through a deal to acquire CBS and switch their stations to their network) decided to recruit actress Marilu Henner to host a show of her own as a replacement in the tabloid format, which only lasted one season.{{cite news |last= Huff|first= Richard|date= June 15, 1994|title= 'Vicki!'
