Ng joined MediaCorp after reaching the finals of Star Search Singapore in 1997. His first foray into English-language television was in the 2002 Channel 5 series Heartlanders in which he played one of the lead characters. As he was one of the few artistes with any formal training in martial arts, he was frequently cast in period and wuxia television series or in characters requiring fight scenes. He left the entertainment industry in November 2007 to concentrate on running Wufang.{{cite news|title=Life after television - The Sequel: Whatever happened to...|url=http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/entertainmentfeatures/view/1197138/1/.html|publisher=Channel News Asia|date=24 April 2012}}{{cite news|title=郑秀珍再度活跃电视 翁清海忙武术学校|url=http://entertainment.xin.msn.com/zh/tv/channel-8/programmes/drama-30/article.aspx?cp-documentid=250509267|publisher=xinmsn|date=27 July 2012|access-date=3 September 2012|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20121114220216/http://entertainment.xin.msn.com/zh/tv/channel-8/programmes/drama-30/article.aspx?cp-documentid=250509267|archive-date=14 November 2012|url-status=dead}}
