The Vivaldi coalition ({{Langx|nl|Vivaldicoalitie}}; {{Langx|fr|la coalition Vivaldi}}) is a neologism{{Cite web |title=Het Vlaams woordenboek » Vivaldi-coalitie |url=https://www.vlaamswoordenboek.be/definities/term/Vivaldi-coalitie |access-date=12 January 2024 |website=www.vlaamswoordenboek.be}} in Belgian politics describing a governing coalition among the parties of the liberals, social democrats, greens and Christian democrats.

In Germany, a comparable coalition of the CDU (black), the SPD (red), the FDP (yellow) and the Greens (green) is occasionally referred to as the Zimbabwe coalition (German: Simbabwe-Koalition), after the colours of the Zimbabwean flag{{Cite news |last=Debes |first=Martin |date=2019-11-07 |title=Landtagswahl Thüringen: Die Selbstzerstörung der Thüringer CDU |url=https://www.zeit.de/politik/deutschland/2019-11/thueringen-landtagswahl-cdu-simbabwe-koalition-afd-mike-mohring/seite-2 |access-date=2025-01-15 |work=Die Zeit |language=de-DE |issn=0044-2070}} or the Ghana coalition (German: Ghana-Koalition), after the colours of the Ghanan flag.{{cite news |url=https://www.bild.de/politik/inland/politik-inland/merkel-zu-besuch-in-sachsen-wehe-wenn-da-sonntag-wahl-waere-56696278.bild.html |title=Merkel zu Besuch in Sachsen: Wehe, wenn da Sonntag Wahl wäre ...|work=Die Bild|first=Anne|last=Merholz |date=2018-08-16 |access-date=2025-01-16|lang=de}}

Details

The coalition is named after the Italian violinist and composer Antonio Vivaldi and references his work The Four Seasons, due to the colors of the political ideologies within the coalition:

The term was first introduced by the newspaper La Libre Belgique in December 2019, during the 2019–2020 Belgian government formation.{{Cite web |date=21 December 2019 |title=Dit hadden ze nog niet geprobeerd: gaan informateurs voor 'Vivaldi-coalitie'? |url=https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20191221_04778116 |access-date=12 January 2024 |website=Het Nieuwsblad |language=nl-BE}} The first government from that combination was ultimately the De Croo Government.
