Vladimir Karasev ({{langx|ru|Владимир Карасёв}}; 17 June 1938 – 9 July 2021) was a Russian chess player.{{cite news |last= |first= |date=|title=Ушел из жизни В.И.Карасев|trans-title= |url=http://totalchess.org/ushel-iz-zhizni-v.i.karasev.html|language=Russian|work=titalchess.org|location= |access-date=13 July 2021}} He had been an International Master since 1976 and was champion of Leningrad in 1974 and Senior European Champion in 2015.
Biography
Karasev participated in the USSR Chess Championship in 1967, 1970, and 1971. In 1965, 1970, and 1982, he tied for first in the Leningrad City Chess Championship, losing the tie-breaker in 1965 and 1970.{{cite web|url=http://al20102007.narod.ru/ch_repub/1965/ch_len65.html|title=Championship of Leningrad- October-December 1965|work=Narod.ru}}{{cite web|url=http://al20102007.narod.ru/ch_repub/1970/ch_len70.html|title=Championship of Leningrad - 7.04-5.05 1970|work=Narod.ru}} He was champion of the city in 1974.{{cite web|url=http://al20102007.narod.ru/ch_repub/1974/ch_len74.html|title=Championship of Leningrad- Leningrad 17.1-9.2.1974|work=Narod.ru}} He won the Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica-Zdrój in 1974. In 1976, he became an International Master and finished second in the championship of Albena. Vladimir Karasev died in Saint Petersburg on 9 July 2021, at the age of 83.
