"Voy a quedarme" was written by Dan Hammond, Leroy Sanchez, Dangelo Ortega, and Blas Cantó. Its composition was prompted by losses in Cantó's life, including the death of his grandmother in 2020 followed by his father's death. He said in an interview that the song was a sort of reconciling with these losses. The death of his father came as RTVE was announcing its decision to re-confirm him to represent Spain in the contest. He also said that the song was like a miracle and healing process. "I needed to perform on that stage. I needed to share my music, my soul", he said.{{Cite news|url=https://wiwibloggs.com/2021/04/07/spains-blas-canto-says-voy-a-quedarme-helped-him-heal-after-the-loss-of-loved-ones/264051/|author=William Lee Adams|title=Spain's Blas Cantó says "Voy a quedarme" helped him heal after the loss of loved ones|publisher=wiwibloggs.com|date=7 April 2021|accessdate=20 May 2021}} The song was released as a digital download and for streaming on 10 February 2021.
