WAU/Mr. Modo Records was a record label set up by Alex Paterson and Youth. "WAU" stands for "What About Us?"{{cite book|title=The Virgin Encyclopedia of Dance Music|editor=Colin Larkin|publisher=Virgin Books|date=1998|edition=First|isbn=0-7535-0252-6|page=363}} (although in a 2016 interview Glover stated that it stood for "weird and unusual"){{Cite news|url=https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/jun/07/how-we-made-the-orb-little-fluffy-clouds-interview|title=How we made the Orb's Little Fluffy Clouds|type=Interview with Youth and Alex Paterson|first=Dave|last=Simpson|date=7 June 2016|work=The Guardian|access-date=7 March 2020}} and "Mr. Modo" is Adam Morris, Paterson's manager. They released several early albums by The Orb, that were mainly distributed by record labels such as Big Life. WAU!Mr. Modo Records featured Discomix releases from conscious roots reggae dub sound system artists such as Bim Sherman, Naphtali, Zulu Warriors, Manasseh, Sound Iration, Tena Stelin, as well as many different ambient artists including Sun Electric, Blue Pearl, and Keiichi Suzuki of the Japanese band Moonriders.
Their sublabel, Inter-Modo, also released records from Juno Reactor and The Orb's collaborative side-project FFWD.
