Tragedy

Shortly after midnight on Saturday morning, January 21, 2012, WGOV-FM disc jockey Stephon Edgerton, known on-air as "Juan Gatti", was shot three times outside the studio (once in the head, twice in the torso) by an assailant, a white man wearing a ski mask. Edgerton called 911 on his cell phone to give the description of the assailant, but soon died of his injuries at the South Georgia Medical Center. His murderer, yet to be identified, is still at large. At the time of his murder, Edgerton had been employed at WGOV-FM for six years, and is survived by his wife and three children.[http://valdostatoday.com/item/18200-local-radio-personality-killed.html WVGA radio: "Local Radio Personality Killed", January 21, 2012.][http://lowndescounty.walb.com/news/news/52371-valdosta-dj-dies-after-shooting WALB: "Valdosta DJ dies after shooting", January 21, 2012.][http://www.wtxl.com/content/topstories/story/UPDATE-Man-murdered-outside-Valdosta-radio-station/zfjixYgQxUWP2fZExfEcQg.cspx WTXL: "UPDATE: Man murdered outside Valdosta radio station", January 21, 2012.]
