The station was assigned the WJDF call letters by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on June 30, 1995.{{cite web |title=Call Sign History |url=https://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/call_hist.pl?Facility_id=16006&Callsign=WJDF |work=FCC Media Bureau CDBS Public Access Database}} It signed on in August 1995 with an adult contemporary format.{{cite news|title=Format Changes & Updates|url=https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-M-Street/M-Street-Journal/M-Street-1995-08.pdf|accessdate=December 20, 2018|work=The M Street Journal|date=August 16, 1995|page=1}} In January 2014, WJDF reformatted to full-service classic hits.

On November 30, 2018, the FCC warned WJDF of a potential for the revocation of their license if their debt was not paid within 60 days; at the time, the station owed $9,642 in regulatory fees dating to 2014.{{cite web |title=Order To Pay Or To Show Cause |url=https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DA-18-1218A1.pdf|accessdate=December 20, 2018|work=FCC Media Bureau CDBS Public Access Database|date=November 30, 2018}}{{cite web |title=FCC Warns: Pay Or Lose Your License. |url=http://www.insideradio.com/free/fcc-warns-pay-or-lose-your-license/article_41c742fc-f6d1-11e8-a494-3ffa58377553.html|accessdate=December 20, 2018|work=Inside Radio|date=December 3, 2018}}{{cite web |title=FCC Wants A Why On Delinquent Reg Fees |url=https://www.rbr.com/fcc-wants-a-why-on-delinquent-reg-fees/|accessdate=December 22, 2018|work=RBR|date=November 30, 2018}} The station did not respond to the warning, and on April 4, 2019, WJDF's license was revoked by the FCC.{{cite web |title=Order of Revocation |url=https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DA-19-255A1.pdf|accessdate=April 5, 2019|work=FCC Media Bureau CDBS Public Access Database|date=April 4, 2019}}{{cite web |title=FCC Revokes WJDF's License |url=https://radioinsight.com/headlines/175915/fcc-revokes-wjdfs-license/|accessdate=April 5, 2019|work=Radioinsight.com|date=April 5, 2019}}{{cite web |title=FCC Yanks License Of WJDF/Orange, MA Due To Unpaid Regulatory Fees |url=https://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/185444/fcc-yanks-license-of-wjdf-orange-ma-due-to-unpaid-|accessdate=April 5, 2019|work=AllAccess.com|date=April 5, 2019}}{{cite web |title=Delinquent Reg Fees Lead To FCC Revocation Order |url=https://www.rbr.com/delinquent-reg-fees-lead-to-fcc-revocation-order/?event=logout|accessdate=April 5, 2019|work=RBR|date=April 5, 2019}} At the time of the revocation, WJDF had been operated by Steve Wendell under a local marketing agreement, with plans for Wendell to acquire the station outright. Wendell subsequently announced his intention to file a $1.8 million lawsuit against Deane Brothers Broadcasting, as he had not been informed of the station's unpaid regulatory fees (which prevented renewal of the WJDF license and the proposed license transfer); in addition, the station had been silent from August to December 2018 after WJDF's transmitter was destroyed by two lightning strikes.{{cite news |last1=Vine |first1=Greg |title=WJDF ordered off air, owners facing lawsuit |url=https://www.atholdailynews.com/AN-A1-TUESDAY-WJDF-ordered-off-air-24707577 |accessdate=April 10, 2019 |work=Athol Daily News |date=April 8, 2019}}
