Background

National Trust is Europe's largest conservation charity; it is also a membership organisation that cares for over 500 historic sites, 780 miles of coastline and 250,000 hectares of land. It also cares for extensive collections held across its properties, including internationally significant collections of fine art and decorative art. It is supported by members, as well as volunteers. At the end of February 2023, membership stood at 5.73 million, with tens of thousands of volunteers generously supporting the work of the Trust.

Pilots

  • Pilot 1 ran for 40 days between 24 June 2022 and 31 January 2023.
  • Pilot 2 was supported by a part-time role from 14 September 2023 to 26 February 2024.
  • As of March 2024, there are no further plans at present for the project.
