KayWelly : first edit on 8 June 2018 ; created 1st article on 24 July 2018 after 22 edits

Between them, these 3 users have created 4 articles, of which one is now deleted. As for the links between the 3 accounts, there's

1. the user names and user pages, but that is very weak obviously
2. the short contrib histories with many similarities: days of the week, times of the day, summaries, types of edits
3. the user talk pages. The fact that BrookeCook answered a message on their talk page 10 weeks after it was posted but on the exact same day that KayWelly answered a similar talk page message is remarkable. But what is more telling is the very unusual syntax of their answers. Not only the talk pages of these 3 users are strikingly similar, but there are only 2 other user talk pages similar to these 3 in the entire English Wikipedia. They belong to users who haven't created any article yet, so I chose not to include these users in this SPI. Because, going back to the links between the 3 accounts, there is also
4. the kind of articles they have created.

• All three accounts are using proxies, each a different one. All three are also using different devices. Therefore, the accounts appear to be {{unrelated}}. That said, given the behavioral quirks common to all three accounts and the proxy use, I find the whole thing suspicious. I don't think checking the remaining accounts is a good use of my time. I suspect these are UPEs working for the same company but all different people. As they're creating articles which are the exact same as created by previously blocked users, I suspect they're probably a sock, though I can't immediately tell of who. Fairly new SPA Owen Hwo insists on (re-)creating Draft:Costway. This was previously created by {{no ping|SotueRR}} (using the exact same expression to start the draft, {{tq|"Costway is an American e-commerce company that sells furniture, hardware, electronics, toys, and sports goods."}}). SotueRR is a blocked sock that ultimately tracks (via {{no ping|KONASAR}}) back to the BrookeCook farm. I hear much quacking.

The Costway draft was earlier this year also created by Hannah.hill747, now blocked for UPE, so I'm including them here just in case that helps flush out any thing.

• I've checked the first eight of the above (YorarmJubet through to Mosli40Cooked). So far, they are all looking very similar indeed - they don't share IPs, but they all use the same proxy service and they are otherwise technically indistinguishable. Only in one case was there any other traffic on the IPs used: Mosli40Cooked has shared an IP with the technically and behaviourally identical {{checkuser|Yimejorlef}}, who should be added to the list. • I've checked a sample of the accounts. I found some overlap in IPs in some cases but in others the IPs are (ostensibly) on different continents. The combination of CU evidence on the ones I checked and the behavioural evidence makes me confident enough to block all but three of the accounts. It's entirely possible that these are multiple remote contractors but there is definitely UPE involved here and none of the accounts I blocked behaves like an "innocent" user. I'll leave open for a bit in case another CU wants to take a deeper look; I haven't checked all the accounts so I'm explicitly not marking the blocks as CU blocks. • ::For the accounts I tagged as proven, I have logged evidence at paid-en-wp@ that they are all working for WP:ABTACH, and they match the modus operandi. I know for a fact that Abtach employs more than one editor, but there's no functional difference, and I think trying to distinguish individuals here is pointless (the company as a whole is community banned). I can look at your block logs and cross-check with my data.{{pb}}More generally, tags serve various practical purposes. Several tools for sock detection use them for tracking and comparison.
