Chace Watson was blocked for repetitive copyright violations in Corbin Bleu. Rodhullandemu later blocked Nick835 as a sock of Chace Watson without going through SPI, a block with which I fully concur. After I reverted Nick835's edits, Jimmy982 restored them all and continued expanding on the edits. I think the identity is pretty obvious, but wanted to request checkuser one time before everything on Chace Watson goes stale. Serves to confirm the trail, and save evidence for what looks to be a long haul of sockpuppeting.—Kww(talk) 16:04, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

I came across Nick835 a few days ago, and after initially trying (without success) to help him understand the problem with the images I realized that he had been blocked at Commons as a sock. I asked Rodhullandemu to look into it since he had previously dealt with Chace Watson. I just saw the new activity of {{user|Jimmy982}} at Corbin Bleu, and was about to file a report here myself, but I see that Kww beat me to it. Obvious sock is obvious, but there could be more sleepers. {{user|Martin H.}}, a CU at commons who dealt with Chace Watson et al there, may be able to add more insight. :The block on Commons is based on Checkuser evidence, given that he appeared there frequently with uploading some blatant copyright violations the ranges where frequently checked. Any information regarding IPs, UA and accounts can be requested by CUs via email. On the other hand this is not required, all information (3 ranges, UA) was sent by me to the CU-l on January 4, 2010, ~5:11 UTC, the data not changed since then, only the number of :commons:Category:Sockpuppets of Chace Watson increased. --Martin H. I find their recent contributions to Corbin Bleu surprising. Their former contributions in discussions on their and my talkpage and e.g. on Tom Kaulitz seem to indicate a user who has only little knowledge of English and of Wikipedia - makes me think of a compromised account that is now used by someone else (weak password?). Chace Watson is an old sockmaster. His normal range of IP edits are encoded at his own private edit filter, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:AbuseFilter/559 (77.31.0.0/16, 37.104.0.0/14, and 2.89.0.0/14). In this case, it's hard for me to establish the English Wikipedia behaviour pattern for MyCanon, because it seems that the modus operandi here is for MyCanon to upload the image to Commons and Chace to then either anonymously link to it or link to it using one of his recently blocked socks. MyCanon only has three local edits. Chace is blocked on Commons as well, so all of this appears to be a cross-wiki sock festival. Before I go squawking at commons, I'd like checkuser confirmation. It'd be best if this was looked at by someone with checkuser privileges on Commons and English Wikipedia.

I've listed a couple recent Chace socks (Oz Steps and HersheyFan) to help a checkuser, since Chace himself is long stale.

As an explanation for why I requested checkuser: what I cannot determine from this pattern is whether Chace really likes the images that MyCanon uploads and takes the time periodically to create sockpuppets and edit-war to make certain that they are included, or whether MyCanon actually is Chace Watson using socks to evade his blocks both here and on Commons. Just for the avoidance of doubt, One of the edits reverted by Kww was on Isla Fisher. On that image/edit there was significant overlap between mycanon and User:Keraunoscopia. Keraunoscopia copied the image from flikr to commons, mycanon cropped it, the cropped version was inserted on enwiki by the IP suspected to be related but on many other wikis was inserted by Keraunoscopia. When the IP was reverted twice it was finally Keraunoscopia who came to the talk page to argue for the use of the image. Stuart.Jamieson (talk) 23:02, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

::I'm not Chace Watson. For one thing, like Kww states, I know how to speak English, probably because I'm American and I live smack in the middle of the US. MyCanon and allies—there may be two people involved here?—and I don't quite see eye-to-eye on a lot of things; see MyCanon's talk page on his Commons page, where I argue (perhaps overly vehemently) about some of his edits. I leave most MyCanon images alone (some are quite fine), but if I do step on his/her toes, it always turns into something annoying. So out of worry of this "overlap" and with some foresight of such a thing as this very SPI, I did leave a note on Kww's talk page explicitly stating I wasn't MyCanon or Chace, just in case; not because Kww was thinking this, but just to allay any worries on my end. I knew full well I would be running into MyCanon and IP users at an exponential rate beginning last month. SaudiNet IPs have removed my images randomly, but I only report lead image changes to Kww on his talk page. Anything else I think is just to bug me and isn't frequent enough to bug me yet. This recent overlap is actually very much because I have connected with a red-carpet photographer, so my uploads of celebrity images have increased greatly, again in the last month. MyCanon's specialty is celebrity photos. That's the only overlap here. On the whole, both of us try to be strangely polite to each other—see both our talk pages over at Commons for examples. :::Oh really quickly, regarding the Isla Fisher photograph, my intent was to crop it, MyCanon beat me to it, and I didn't mind the crop in the end, so I reinserted MyCanon's photograph into the article. I would have to link all the conversations in chronological order (too tired to do that at the mo') for you guys for it to make sense, but I think you'll find my discussions on the Isla Fisher talk page and also on MyCanon's Commons talk page regarding that very thing. It is one of the very few times I agreed with a MyCanon crop. I may as well add that the photographer in question, Richard Goldschmidt, would release his images under a free CC license on Flickr; MyCanon, having noticed my recent uploads of Goldschmidt photographs, added Goldschmidt to his "flickr friends page" (or something—MyCanon explained this to me on his commons talk page), and therefore was aware of these images before I could even get them up on the articles—literally, I would upload the images to Commons, MyCanon jumped on them and added the images to the articles.
