Background

The artist behind WRDSMTH used to reside in Chicago and worked in advertising. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue writing and became a published author in 2012.{{Cite news|url=https://www.thelagirl.com/wrdsmth/|title=Meet WRDSMTH, LA Street Artist - The LA Girl|date=2014-09-05|work=The LA Girl|access-date=2017-05-04|language=en-US}} Tired of being trapped behind his computer, WRDSMTH had the idea to integrate his love of writing with his interest in street art and developed his signature tag in 2013 for which he has become widely known: an image of a vintage typewriter below a page of motivational and original text, sometimes inspired by his creative process.{{Cite news|url=https://www.thrillist.com/lifestyle/los-angeles/inside-los-angeles-street-art-wrdsmth-retna|title=The Lowdown on LA's Street Art -- From Two of Its Most Recognizable Artists|last=Najafi|first=Leila|date=2017-01-16|work=Thrillist|access-date=2017-05-04}}{{Cite web|url=http://www.playboy.com/videos/night-spray-with-street-artist-wrdsmth|title=Journalista: On a Night Spray with Street Artist WRDSMTH|website=Playboy|access-date=2017-05-04}}
