=East Ramapo School District bill=
Mosley was originally a co-sponsor of a bill to place a monitor with veto power in the East Ramapo School District in Rockland County, an Orthodox Jewish-dominated school district that was diverting funds to yeshivas. Mosley took his name off of the bill after meeting with both sides, saying that the discussion about the bill has anti-Semitic overtones. He refused to meet with the sponsor of the bill, a 71-year-old former East Ramapo schoolteacher, and ultimately did not vote on the bill.{{cite web|url=http://www.nystateofpolitics.com/2015/06/the-under-the-radar-election-next-week/|title=The Under-the-Radar Election Next Week|website=New York State of Politics}}{{cite news|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/19/nyregion/bid-to-impose-monitor-on-east-ramapo-school-board-meets-resistance.html?_r=0|title=Bid to Impose Monitor on East Ramapo School Board Meets Resistance|work = The New York Times|date=18 May 2015|last=Taylor|first=Kate}}{{cite news|url=http://www.jewishpress.com/news/us-news/ny/jewish-assemblywoman-says-shes-been-bullied-by-colleagues-2/2015/07/16/|title=Jewish Assemblywoman Says She's Been Bullied By Colleagues|date=16 July 2015|work=The Jewish Press}}
=2020 Democratic primary defeat=
In the Democratic primary on June 23, 2020, Mosley faced Phara Souffrant Forrest; Forrest was his first primary challenger since 2012. On July 22, 2020, once absentee ballots had been counted, Forrest was declared the winner of the primary by over 2,500 votes.{{cite news | url = https://www.brooklynpaper.com/breaking-phara-souffrant-forrest-declares-victory-over-walter-mosley-in-crown-heights-assembly-race/ | title = BREAKING: Phara Souffrant Forrest Declares Victory over Walter Mosley in Crown Heights Assembly Race | first = Ben | last = Verde | work = Brooklyn Paper | date = 22 July 2020 | access-date = 22 July 2020}}
