Reception

Fantastic Musings found the movie to be bad.{{cite web |url=https://fantasticmoviemusings.com/2018/02/01/the-war-of-the-robots-1978/ |title=The War of the Robots (1978) |date=2 February 2018}} Salon noted that it was part of a series of B-movie Star Wars rip-offs from director Brescia.{{cite web |website=Salon.com |url=https://www.salon.com/2002/05/21/spaghetti/ |title=Spaghetti space wars of 1979 |date=22 May 2002}} Those equally poorly received, sets, props, costumes, and actor-recycled "sequels" are Cosmos: War of the Planets, Battle of the Stars, Star Odyssey, and the adult film-inflected The Beast in Space.
