Ward and Hughes

History

James Henry Nixon worked on the restoration of the famous medieval stained glass at St. Neots in Cornwall as early as 1829.{{Cite book |last=Cheshire |first=Jim |title=Stained glass and the Victorian gothic revival |date=2004 |isbn=0-7190-6346-9 |publisher=Manchester University Press |oclc=56468049}} The firm became a favourite of Charles Winston, which helped them gain prestigious commissions like the east window of Lincoln Cathedral.{{Cite book |title=Stained glass of Lincoln Cathedral |date=2012 |publisher=Scala |author=Carol Bennett |isbn=978-1-85759-774-5 |location=London |oclc=795182395}} In 1857 Nixon died and his pupil, Henry Hughes, became the partner of Thomas Ward, and the business was renamed Ward and Hughes.{{Cite web|url=http://stainedglass.llgc.org.uk/person/219|title=Ward & Hughes.
