There are areas of acidic grassland and heather, together with large parts dominated by mosses and lichens. Grazing by rabbits and stock has kept plants short and the habitat open.{{cite web|url=http://www.sssi.naturalengland.org.uk/citation/citation_photo/1001889.pdf |title=Weather and Horn Heaths, Eriswell citation|series= Sites of Special Scientific Interest|publisher=Natural England|access-date= 14 June 2017}}
There is public access to the site and the A11 road passes between the two heaths.
