{{Weightlifting at the 1976 Summer Olympics}}
The weightlifting competition at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal consisted of nine weight classes, all for men only. The clean and press was dropped from the included lifts after the 1972 games in Munich, due to disagreement over proper form. The Games of 1976 were the first Olympics to start testing for anabolic steroids, although athletes were tested only during the competition, thus leaving them free to use performance-enhancing drugs in the years prior.{{Cite web|url=http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/cndy/2004-09/01/content_370597.htm|title=Doping cases at Summer Games since 1968|website=www.chinadaily.com.cn|access-date=30 June 2019}}{{cite web|url=https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/summer/1976/WLT/ |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20200417052333/https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/summer/1976/WLT/ |url-status=dead |archive-date=17 April 2020 |title=Weightlifting at the 1976 Montreal Summer Games |work=Sports Reference |access-date=9 January 2020}}
