It is in the Cumberland district, and is located north of Carlisle, on the A7 road between Carlisle and Longtown.{{cite web | url=http://www.npemap.org.uk/tiles/map.html#340,563,1 | title=Ordnance Survey Sheet 076 | year=1955 | accessdate=20 July 2008}} In the south of the parish, and also on the A7, is another small village, Blackford.
