Westmorland County Council was the county council of Westmorland in north west England. It came into its powers on 1 April 1889 and was abolished on 1 April 1974.{{cite book |title=Local government in England and Wales: A Guide to the New System |year=1974 |publisher=HMSO |location=London |isbn=0-11-750847-0 }} The county council was initially based at the Town Hall in Kendal and then, from 1939, based at the County Offices in Kendal.{{NHLE|desc=County Offices, Kendal|num=1410338|access-date=2 September 2019}} It was amalgamated with Cumberland County Council to form the new Cumbria County Council in 1974.{{cite web|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/sense_of_place/prog_1.shtml|title=The County with the Hole in the Middle?|publisher=BBC|access-date=28 September 2019}}
