Background
Brody released "Where'd You Learn How to Do That" ahead of a slate of summer 2022 tour dates, remarking that it had "been a while" since he had a song "that brings a party like this one does".{{cite web|url= https://www.iheartradio.ca/purecountry/central-ontario/concerts-events/dean-brody-and-friends-sept-24th-2022-at-budweiser-stage-1.18112017|title=Dean Brody and Friends - Sept 24th 2022 at Budweiser Stage|work=Pure Country 106| publisher=iHeartRadio Canada|access-date=July 20, 2022}}
Brody's fellow country artists and friends Stuart and Jenna Walker of the sibling duo the Reklaws co-wrote the track with Thomas "Tawgs" Salter and Blake Redferrin. Stuart Walker remarked that when they originally finished the song, Redferrin sang it with his usual "Southern drawl", which led Walker to realize that Brody would have a more suitable voice for the song. Knowing that Brody was looking for new songs, they passed it along through their manager.{{cite web|url=https://www.socanmagazine.ca/news/top-secrets-the-reklaws-on-co-writing-whered-you-learn-how-to-do-that/|title=TOP SECRETS: THE REKLAWS ON CO-WRITING "WHERE’D YOU LEARN HOW TO DO THAT?"|work=Words & Music|publisher=SOCAN Magazine|first=Howard|last=Druckman|date=February 9, 2023|access-date=February 9, 2023}}

Nanci Dagg of Canadian Beats Media referred to the song as "a fun, upbeat track showing off [Brody's] country roots".{{cite web|url=https://canadianbeats.ca/2022/05/14/dean-brody-prepares-to-make-2022-the-biggest-yet-with-three-great-announcements/|title=Dean Brody prepares to make 2022 the biggest yet with three great announcements|date=May 14, 2022|first=Nanci|last=Dagg|work=Canadian Beats Media|access-date=July 20, 2022}}
