Composition
In an interview with Classic Rock, Dave Grohl stated that the lyrics for "White Limo" were written in just two minutes.[http://www.fooarchive.com/gpb/classicrock11.htm "I have all these huge fucking riffs, I can scream for three hours... LET'S GO!"], Classic Rock, May 2011 MTV writer Chris Ryan noted that the song showed Dave Grohl going back to his roots in hardcore punk, describing it as "...a blistering, paint-stripping thrash track that mixes mosh-inducing hard-core with the Foo’s penchant for melody."{{cite web|last1=Ryan|first1=Chris|title=New Song: Foo Fighters' 'White Limo'|url=http://www.mtv.com/news/2297351/foo-fighters-white-limo/|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160331022038/http://www.mtv.com/news/2297351/foo-fighters-white-limo/|url-status=dead|archive-date=March 31, 2016|website=mtv.com|publisher=Viacom|access-date=March 3, 2016|date=February 16, 2011}} Revolver described the song as "the most metal track on "Wasting Light", and one of the most metal Foo Fighters songs ever."{{cite web |last=Koenig |first=Sarah |date=April 12, 2011 |title=Review: Foo Fighters – Wasting Light |url=http://www.revolvermag.com/reviews/review-foo-fighters-wasting-light.html |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160314065727/https://www.revolvermag.com/reviews/review-foo-fighters-wasting-light.html/ |archive-date=March 14, 2016 |access-date=March 13, 2016 |website=Revolver}} The song has also been categorized as simply hard rock.{{cite web|url=http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/11465573.Foo_Fighters_hit_Brighton_as_thousands_gather_on_seafront/|title=Foo Fighters hit Brighton as thousands gather on seafront|work=The Argus|date=10 September 2014 |access-date=March 13, 2016}}
