No useful evidence of notability. No evidence even that this man is known by this professional name. The two refs. included are dead. The "Awards" don't check out. Artiquities (talk) 10:49, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
:*This AfD nomination was incomplete (missing step 3). It is listed now. DumbBOT (talk) 11:33, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
- Keep. The references currently given in the article are poor but a quick search turns up sufficient coverage of him[http://www.google.com/search?q=%22ash+baron-cohen%22&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbs=nws:1,ar:1&ei=5UEnTZPtH4n0tgPVhIGPBw&start=0&sa=N][http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&tbs=nws%3A1%2Car%3A1&q=%22ashley+baron-cohen%22&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=][http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=%22ashley%20baron-cohen%22&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbo=u&tbs=nws:1,ar:1,bks:1&source=og&sa=N&tab=np]; useful examples include: [http://www.esquire.com/features/sacha-baron-cohen-brother-0709][http://www.heralddeparis.com/in-the-city-of-devils-an-interview-with-filmmaker-ash-baron-cohen/42046][http://www.clickliverpool.com/culture/culture/124231-britweek-hollywood-feature---ash-baron-cohen-under-the-spotlight.html].--Arxiloxos (talk) 16:43, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
- Keep He is very well known in film circles, as is his work. Ash is the name that he uses much as Woody Allen is used by Allan Konigsberg. The following source is the most reputable you could wish for to verify this. [http://www.stockholmfilmfestival.se/en/film/pups 1] Ash was nominated for the Bronze Horse as stated in the article, the same award granted to Tarantino in 1992 for Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction in 1994. Robert Ebert said of 'Bang' that it was "as absorbing as any movie I've seen this year"[http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19900711/REVIEWS/7110302/1023 2] and later adding of 'This Girl's Life' that "it's probably of historical value."[http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041001/REVIEWS/409300302/1023 3] He is covered further in the London Times [http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/article6578591.ece 4] and Variety. [http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117868722?refCatId=16&query=Ash+Baron-Cohen 5] While this New York Post article confirms the use of the name Ash and his making a film for $20,000 staring Mischa Barton, Adam Farrar and Burt Reynolds.[http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/young_dogs_day_SPWkSIiKdsYYF3r2oH0zpI 5] Juliette Marquis won the Best Actress award at the Milan International Film Festival as described. [http://www.miff.it/scheda.php?lang=1&id=49 6] I really don't understand the difficulty here, the director's films, awards and he himself are documented. Sources such as The New York Times [http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/review?_r=1&res=9400E5DF1731F937A25751C0A9669C8B63 7] and photographs with the awards held in hand [http://www.lasplash.com/publish/Los_Angeles_Entertainment_109/Milan_International_Film_Festival_Awards_Ceremony_At_The_Italian_Cultural_Institute_MIFF_s_Best.php 8] can be found to validate. - Keep multi award winning and well known director widely cited by peers and written on in multiple reliable sources. Meets WP:ANYBIO and WP:GNG. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:48, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
- Note from nominator now moved and searching full name he is clearly notable, so the issue was the former title of the article.--Artiquities (talk) 20:52, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
- Is that a withdrawal so we can close this one? Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 01:49, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
