Well-written but entirely unencyclopedic page, complete with weasel words ("some gamers"), lack of references (the only one is an EVE Online article which establishes that the term does exist, but not much else), inappropriate editorializing and value judgements, and inherently unsourcable statements. Wikipedia is not a dictionary, particularly not Urban Dictionary, and there simply isn't anything encyclopedic to be said about the subject. Ashenai (talk) 13:40, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

:Weak Keep as the term is quite notable in gaming, particularly first person shooters. I'm sure there are enough reliable sources to back the content up. An article in need of major revamping isn't good enough reason for deletion. --Teancum (talk) 18:28, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

::The term definitely exists, that's not being debated. I'm pretty sure I could prove that the term "AWP whore" also exists, but we don't have an article on it (that is a redlink right? okay, good...) Gaming slang can merit an article, but only if there's actual content behind it. "Griefing" is a gaming term that deserves an article. "Camping" is not. --Ashenai (talk) 18:36, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

  • Merge -- but I don't know exactly where. Maybe to an article on multiplayer gaming, or on FPS/TPS, to describe one type of player that can be found in the game. Not a full article though. --MASEM (t) 22:59, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Keep -- it is about the only term that I have heard of in :Category:Video game culture. I don't think Urban Dictionary could cover 4,000 words of text. Enough there to warrant an article.--EchetusXe 09:01, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Neutral - I agree that this is one of the most widely used gaming terms, it has been in usage long before most of the others in the above-mentioned category. However, the current revision is a great big pile of WP:OR, I suggest actually starting again from scratch, this time using our verifiability policy (a few usages in Edge magazine of [http://www.edge-online.com/search/node/turtling turtling] and [http://www.edge-online.com/search/node/camping camping], for example). But: is there actually enough coverage about the term "camper" to warrant an article, and not just a dictdef? Marasmusine (talk) 10:26, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Keep To render adequate judgement on this AfD, specialist knowledge is crucial, and uninformed speculation about the term's relevance in game history is not a substitute. None of this is OR. There is quite a lot of PoV about whether the strategy is fair, which is best written about in terms of game balance, if at all, but as usual, that is a matter for the Talk page, not AfD. Sources are abundant. I added two citations to the article; I do not usually bother with articles on AfD, but these are so easy to find, and the subject so deserving. The term dates back at least to the first Quake, thirteen years ago; there will not be any citations of that, because the online gaming magazines did not exist at that time.
