I originally prodded this thinking it had something to do with William Arthur Kirk, but the author removed the tag because it apparently does not. I've searched {{Google|"Kirk theorem" consecutive}} but nothing relevant came up. It's a very obvious property of numbers (the average would be the middle number, duh) that I don't know if it even has a name. ... discospinster talk 02:41, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Change name to Kirk's Theorem and make it a redirect to Caristi fixed point theorem. This does seem to be an alternative name, along with Caristi-Kirk theorem. It has no connection to the current content. Dingo1729 (talk) 04:27, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
On second thoughts, perhaps I am confused. The biographical article on William Arthur Kirk refers to both the Caristi-Kirk theorem and the redlinked Kirk Theorem. Does anyone know whether these are essentially distinct? Dingo1729 (talk) 04:35, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Delete as an algebraic triviality which can have nothing to do with William Arthur Kirk. The result here was certainly known, for example, to Gauss. Sergeant Cribb (talk) 16:24, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Delete. Entirely trivial. Certainly not an eponymous theorem. Nageh (talk) 09:08, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
