This subject is not notable enough to have his own wikipedia article. His only claim to "notability" is he once invaded a Bob Dylan performance. This does not make him notable. The majority of Wikipedia users would never have heard of this man. Article says he has history as a comedian and is now a performance artist, but there are many non-famous comedians and performance artists in the world who do not have their own Wikipedia articles. This article was clearly made by Portnoy or a friend for self-indulgent or promotional purposes. Not notable. Brianzamfel (talk) 05:29, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Keep. If he's sufficiently notable to get articles written about him and his work in the [http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/10/arts/dance/10port.html New York Times] (see also [http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/11/the-post-materialist-satirizing-luxury/ this]), he's notable enough for an article here. Plenty of coverage also of his 'Soy Bomb' performance and subsequent events: [http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/baltsun/access/26818481.html?dids=26818481:26818481&FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=Feb+27%2C+1998&author=Rob+Hiaasen&pub=The+Sun&desc=%60Soy+Bomb%27+came+from+Md.%3B+Dancer%3A+Michael+Portnoy+of+Bethesda+provided+an+impromptu+highlight+at+Wednesday%27s+Grammy+Awards.&pqatl=google], [http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1428458/19980305/dylan_bob.jhtml], [http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=NewsLibrary&p_multi=DSNB&d_place=DSNB&p_theme=newslibrary2&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0F364AF4A44018A4&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM]. And with respects, I seriously doubt the nominator's assertion that the article "was clearly made by Portnoy or a friend", as its author, User:Luvcraft, has been contributing to Wikipedia since 2004.[http://toolserver.org/~soxred93/pcount/index.php?name=Luvcraft&lang=en&wiki=wikipedia] No matter who wrote the article, it now belongs to Wikipedia, and the subject meets guidelines for inclusion. • Comment. I haven't made any investigations into notability, but I would point out that the nominator's statement that "the majority of Wikipedia users would never have heard of this man" sounds more like a reason for keeping than for deletion, as the whole point of an encyclopedia is expand the knowledge of its readers.
