  • Delete I don't see it as such a likely search term. Definitely not a keep, because he lacks coverage. He's from LA, but only has a brief mention or two in the LA Times.   • Most of that is routine coverage that most minor leaguers who were a first rounder gets, in this case its a bit more because most of these sources you linked are human interest stories from the local newspaper because he survived open heart surgery a few years before getting drafted. The rest of these sources are typical minor league reports that every former top prospect gets. Of course a first rounder who survived open heart surgery will get him coverage by the media, but I don't see enough on his baseball playing career thus I don't see that as "substantial coverage" for meeting WP:GNG.   • I wasn't around most of these AFDs to evaluate the coverage. If the coverage is the same or worse than this one (trivial, human interest sources), and was closed as no-consensus, we can renominate them for deletion where I would likely present a deletion argument.   • Delete I don't see much coverage outside of him surviving open-heart surgery and being drafted in the first round, which makes it human interest/WP:ROUTINE and still fails WP:GNG. Being a first rounder, you get some coverage automatically, and surviving open heart surgery is very common. Secret account 21:10, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Being drafted in the 1st round is not trivial. Substantive coverage of his being drafted is legitimate part of his noatbility to the extent that multiple reliable sources found it important enough to cover. And much of the coverage of Collier is about his minor league career beyond being drafted, which is more than most minor leaguers get. Rlendog (talk) 15:27, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

  • Keep - Even though some of Yankees10's sources are duplicates, there are enough unique, substantive articles from multiple sources to pass WP:GNG. Plus there is the substantial article by Brookover in the article itself, which has nothing to do with being a first round draft pick or surviving heart surgery (although even without that, if all first round picks who survived heart surgery have had as much coverage as Collier, then they are all notable as well).     There is sufficient coverage in reliable sources to allow Zach Collier to pass Wikipedia:Notability#General notability guideline, which requires "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject".

Wikipedia:Notability (sports)#Applicable policies and guidelines says:

Subjects that do not meet the sport-specific criteria outlined in this guideline may still be notable if they meet the General Notability Guideline or another subject specific notability guideline.
Because the subject passes Wikipedia:Notability#General notability guideline, this article should be kept.
